Lovely Supportive Employer
Legal Enquiry Processor (Current Employee) - Sheffield - 26 May 2022
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedStarted in August 2021 and ever since day 1 i have been well and truly supported by my manager and the staff. They are very understanding and are always there for a chat. Everyone is so nice to work with and easy to get along with. Hours are fair and it's easy to get to and from work. I would recommend to anyone.

It's getting worse
Normalisation of poor treatment, countless spreadsheets, poor case management system, can’t retain staff and then don’t replace them when they do leave, force staff to use their own mobile phone when working from home, poor salary, no option of overtime despite ridiculous case loads, poor management, flexible only when it suits them, works against staff rather than with them, low morale. This list is not exhaustive. Whilst the colleagues and immediate supervisors are great, the higher management/decision makers are the reason turnover is so high.
Pros
Free fruit, social club, lovely colleagues
Cons
Chaotic, stressful, unorganised

Stressful, lovely colleagues
Paralegal (Current Employee) - Sheffield, South Yorkshire - 21 March 2022
The team I worked in were great, always friendly and willing to help Management didn’t seem to be bothered if you were drowning in work Turnover is super high but they struggle to find replacements so people have to split the extra work, making it stressful

Do not work there
Caseworker (Former Employee) - Sheffield - 18 February 2022
Great people. The job would be manageable if the processes were in the 21st century. I would never advise anyone to work there. Terrible management

Avoid at all cost
Legal Advisor (Former Employee) - Sheffield, South Yorkshire - 8 January 2022
Worst company to work for. Hypocrites claiming to be a trade union law firm whilst treating their staff like rubbish. Constantly reminded staff in the department that we did not make money. Offered no training at all.

Chaotic and a blame culture
Enquiry Processor (Former Employee) - Sheffield - 29 October 2021
The manager is vindictive and makes unprofessional comments that he believes are funny but actually just erode trust. The work is beyond dull; no sense of achievement and the sense that nothing you do really counts for anything. The office is old, dated and has poor facilities. Old fruit and nasty coffee. You can’t get in and out of the building easily if you cycle as there are no security fobs. Their cycle2work scheme is a joke. There are some really nice staff but there is an overall tone akin to a playground. Lots of cliques, narcissists and people lacking emotional development who are tolerated.
Pros
None spring to mind
Cons
Chaotic, understaffed, underpaid, poor management, poor facilities…

Terrible! Work anywhere but here!!
Settlement Agreement Unit (Former Employee) - Plymouth, Devon - 7 June 2021
Management are cliquey, unethical, unfair and select specific people and to carry out their dirty work and hold to a different standard then the rest. They are corrupt, overwork people, expect you to work extra for nothing and rarely show any appreciation. Managers and HR also think they know it all and really know nowhere near enough, don’t consider people as human beings with feelings, just numbers on paper. Sadly they are derogatory about people which I witnessed all the time. The favourites get promoted rather then the most capable. Can’t stress enough how much you need to avoid this Firm.
Pros
You can resign at any time
Cons
All of the above, and some...

Avoid!
Pre-Litigation Executive (Former Employee) - Stoke-on-Trent - 30 December 2020
Would not recommend, horrendous atmosphere to work in. Some colleagues had been signed of sick due to stress and depression whilst I was employed there. Everyone was either too stressed under the pressure or too busy to provide any form of support, even as a new starter or just wanting assistance with a difficult case, it felt like everyone was there for themselves. Feeling anxious and nervous about going into work was out of character, even putting in the extra hours never felt like it was enough. Their systems are problematic as very out dated which made the process much longer than needed and resulted in wasting valuable time. The only regret I have was not leaving sooner.
Pros
Free parking
Cons
Old fashioned paper file system, poor training, overworked management, lack of support, no annual leave assistance

Terrible - worst firm I have ever worked for
Litigation Executive (Former Employee) - Stafford, Staffordshire - 3 November 2020
Moved on from this old fashioned communist firm run by know it alls who were inexperienced to a well respected firm that pays the staff well and enables you to hit decent bonus targets. Do not even think about joining Thompson’s who treat the staff with no respect and are full of fake promises
Pros
Free car park
Cons
Test staff as they are juveniles

some of staff really helpful
Audio legal typist (Current Employee) - Bath Street, Glasgow - 16 October 2020
I would not look for promotion of any kind as they tend to give these posts to friends if you are quite happy to so a secretarial job for a typists salary then you will do fine
Pros
flexi time allows you to build up time for an extra day off per month
Cons
no prospects of promotion

Great PI Solicitors with excellent Employment Law Specialists
Solicitor (Current Employee) - Nottingham - 5 July 2020
A firm who believes in fighting for the rights of workers and therefore closely aligned with the trade union movement . Great people to work with but the work is demanding and fast paced.
The business is changing in response to changes in legislation and the general change in delivering PI legal services
Pros
The people that work there. Good Company benefits .
Cons
Getting a balance with life and work given the demanding workload

Really nice people
I have been working at Thompsons for a while now and feel the team is supportive, although under a lot of pressure. Case loads are high but the quality of the work is excellent.

Stressful and inundated with non-stop phone calls from angry client chasing update on their matter
Paralegal in the National Fast Track Centre (Former Employee) - Sheffield NFTC - 4 February 2020
Stressful and inundated with non-stop phone calls from angry client chasing update on their matter. It was like a revolving door in terms of staff turnaround, so your case load kept growing every time someone leaves
