Decent place to work if you are looking for seasonal work
Grounds Maintenance Operative (Former Employee) - Glasgow - 24 May 2023
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedThe job is mostly grass cutting using a strimmer and lawnmower before using the blower to tidy up any mess. The tools aren't top notch and can be hard to get replacements but the work itself is simple and not that hard. Some days can be harder than others depending on work load, weather etc but when dry its easy enough. Workers were decent guys mostly hard working with the few odd lazy ones who want others to do their job for them if they even show up at all. Wages are poor and job is only temporary
Pros
Simple work, guaranteed work for the contract, laughs
Cons
Low pay, working in bad weather

Shocking company to work for
Grounds maintenance op (Former Employee) - South East - 24 August 2023
Avoid like the plague Management don’t have a clue constantly lie to customers refuse to buy decent working machinery. Expect you to work with broke machinery or bodge stuff along. Will throw the staff on the ground under the proverbial bus to save their reputation. Don’t give a proverbial monkeys backside about the staff wages are shockingly low for the industry
Pros
None
Cons
Unless area manager poor treatment of staff. Low wages constant lies

Good Company
Operator (Current Employee) - Cheshire - 23 July 2023
Worked for a few Grounds Companies and to be honest they all run very similar , some have left the business and came back so it can’t be that bad . Good lads , management there and on hand to help and support you . Usual issues as with all companies regarding kit and breakdowns , however there is always a quick fix solution or a replacement bought in to use pretty quickly . Clients very demanding and the work quality produced is good .
Pros
Good management and work colleagues
Cons
Demanding clients

Terrible
Supervisor (Former Employee) - South East London, Greater London - 25 March 2023
How they can say a leading grounds maintenance company is very subdude. Always claiming they have no money for training or machinery repairs, tools and machinery are very outdated. Tivoli is great company at doing spreadsheets and it but not the greatest with its grounds work. I worked in management for 4 years and had no new machinery and was asked constantly to lie to the teams and clients. It has great potential but unfortunately its ran by too many accountants and IT gurus.
Pros
None
Cons
No work life balance and a complete shambles of a company

Shambles
Grounds Maintenance (Former Employee) - North East - 28 February 2023
Job i had was ok but to be honest the management are hopeless full of promises and nothing ever happens also trying to get machinery fixed or serviced is in impossible, thought job was full time then told it was only seasonal and finished me in the November with 2 weeks notice letter (doing it by the law but no regards to employee then have the nerve to say come back next year ).management simply dont care about seasonal workers.
Pros
Can't think of any
Cons
Minimum Wage

Great place to work, collaborative.
Manager (Current Employee) - United Kingdom - 31 August 2022
I have recently started with Tivoli and I have found it to be a very welcoming business. It has a good culture and ethic in the business. It is investing more and more as the business grows. There is a real close knit feel, friendly, collaborative and can do attitude from everyone.

Outdoor work in fresh air with great people
Grounds Maintenance Operative (Current Employee) - Chorley, Lancashire - 31 August 2022
I've worked at Tivoli since 2018. It's great being able to work outside and our contract does longer summer hours and shorter in the winter which is good as there's more to do in the summer outside. Sometimes have issues with machinery but older kit is being replaced and new stuff is coming in. Pay could be better but there is opportunity to progress with learning new skills. Great people which makes the days go quickly and enjoyable.
Pros
great people, outdoor work, decent hours, physical work keeps me fit
Cons
sometimes cold being outdoors in winter

Horrible , poor management , minimal machines
Ground Worker (Former Employee) - Kilmarnock, East Ayrshire - 18 August 2022
I’ve been in this line of work for 24 years and I’ve never seen a company of its size so poorly run and so dis functional , they have a handful of machines that work but old , their work ethic is poor , high turnover of workers ,they cut so many corners and nothing is done on time it’s about time the management in charge do something they are letting all good workers leave that can actually do the job stay well clear of them

Ground Worker (Former Employee) - Workington, Cumbria - 6 July 2022
Seasonal work and if you don't like routine it's not for you, if you like to look at a job you've done and say I've done that it is for you , can be hard work at times but you get weekends and bank holidays off a definite plus

Great company!
Grounds Maintenance Operative (Former Employee) - Aberdeen - 4 July 2022
Great company to work for, growing and going from strength to strength. Salaries at lower entry levels roles could be revised due to inflation costs..

Management is so poor the tools are bout 100 years old and they expect the world of you everyday with no thanks at the end! You work will be never good enough no matter how hard you work the best thing I've done is leave there and they will belittle you and try to intermedate you if they can i would advise anyone thinking of working for them have a big good think bout it!!!

Full of broken promises
Grounds Maintenance Operative (Former Employee) - Normanton, West Yorkshire - 3 April 2022
You get told not to use defective machinery but even when reported you are expected to use it always told new machinery is ordered but 3 months later still no sign and one of the lower paying grounds maintenance companies
Pros
Quite relaxed where I work
Cons
Full of promises none delivered

Terrible company!
Ground Maintenance Operative (Former Employee) - Oxford, Oxfordshire - 19 March 2022
Be advised! don't work for this company if you can help it. No support from managers, shortage of needed equipment when you need it. No chance of an increase in wages. They lost a large contract so we got Tupe,d over with no clear offer to stay with Tivoli no contact from management though out the process. Avoid them if you can.
Pros
None
Cons
Bad management.

Terrible company
Sales Assistant (Xmas Temp) (Former Employee) - Folkestone, Kent - 16 March 2022
Terrible company to work for.. 0 structure, they hire manangers that don’t have a clue how to look after their staff.. underpay you constantly because they don’t know how to time manage.. hire supervisors that are completely incompetent at their jobs… lie about your hours you work..JOKE COMPANY Do not trust them in the slightest.. stay well away!! Much better companies out there that don’t mess you around and will treat good workers with respect. I could say a lot more but hopefully this enough to stop people ever bothering with this awful business

Stay away
Grounds Maintenance Operative (Current Employee) - South East - 24 November 2021
What a BAD/LAZY company to work for. They do not appreciate their workers, people leave and are not replaced. Managers are happy to see there workers struggle with run down and normally broken machinery on over grown sites that haven't been touched in months. they do not pay much so your better off someplace else and save you the grief.
Pros
nothing
Cons
Everything
