Nothing special
Security Guard (Former Employee) - West Yorkshire - 23 May 2023
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedA good job to have to gain experience in security. Initially you might receive stand by for travelling, however after a few months area managers expect you to travel 30+ miles to work for just over £9 an hour for 8 hours. Not worth the fuel or the headache.

Very poor company to work for and one I could not recommend a friend to join.
SIA Security Officer (Current Employee) - Norfolk - 28 May 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? Pay day is always on the 15th of each month. But it is an awful company to work for, poor management, extremely poor communication, poorly paid, you are treated like a number. Rubbish IT systems. Very often request sent via txt for volunteers to staff at least 70+ stores because of staff shortages. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Lack of communication and poor management What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Very low morale across several TSS supermarkets . Under valued and under paid. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Standing at a podium utilising CCTV, responding to exit alarms, checking door seals are intact, and walking the shop floor profiling and looking for criminal activity. Securing the premises at the end of shift.

Awful
Retail Security Officer (Former Employee) - Manchester, Greater Manchester - 27 May 2023
Possibly the worst company I’ve ever worked for! Very low pay! Got charged a nearly £200 for the uniform. Unsupportive company. Hard to get holidays approved. Expected to work constant weekends.
Pros
Leaving to find another job
Cons
Very low pay, irregular hours, expected to work constant weekends, no support from company

Alright work; terrible management.
Security Officer (Former Employee) - Thanet District, Kent - 21 May 2023
Working as a security officer in TSS contracted stores, Tesco, Boots, Waitrose, etc., is about what you can expect. Long hours, but staff are generally friendly, and the pay isn't that bad, but TSS management is a joke. You will get called on your off days to cover shifts far afield, you will be hassled while on shift to add hours you weren't expecting. The pressure and outright lies relating to what you were contracted for has to be in a legal grey zone, because I don't know how they get away with it. Stay away.

In the pass 5 years I have not had a personal/career development plan done
Controller (Current Employee) - London - 19 May 2023
Having worked with this company for more than 10 year, in the pass 5 year personal development or career development plan or programs is non existence. There is no pay raise in pass 5 years instead HR removed your break times paid in order to qualify to be London living wages. The retention rate in this organisation is very low.
Pros
Nice colleagues
Cons
Breaks are not paid for

A lot has changed
Security Officer (Former Employee) - Sheffield, South Yorkshire - 26 April 2023
TSS was taken over last year and its really going down hill fast. I worked for TSS for over 5 years. They moved on to a new system which don't work and fails every day, it took them over a month to sort out the problems. The final nail for me was they are going to change the pension payment plan. TSS use to be really good to work for, its a real shame.
Pros
Extra time at Bank Holiays
Cons
Failed system.

job security
Security Officer (Former Employee) - London - 22 April 2023
a standard security job. the company having a lot of contracts means there are always jobs available all across the UK. good for job security as you can have a permanent store or move around or do both. covers lots of retail stores mainly supermarkets but has a few corporate sites and quite a few warehouses also.
Pros
job security
Cons
basic pay, long hours

It's a job.
Security Officer (Former Employee) - Birmingham - 20 April 2023
If you get a permanent store with respectful staff you are in a good place unfortunately since G4s took over it is now rubbish. We had an app what worked now we have a different one which isn't working properly the clients at certain supermarkets have dropped some security hours so finding extra hours is like pulling teeth I am looking for something more permanent.

No work/life balance
Retail Security Officer (Former Employee) - North East - 19 April 2023
Started working here last year. I was taken on with the hours of Sunday-Thursday 10:00 - 18:00 at one specific location, which worked extremely well for me as it fitted in with childcare and social times. However, hours and days can apparantly just be changed on a whim, they expect you to not have two consecutive days off and the only solution to this problem as iv seen is to drop down to part time. Then you have to be prepared to be moved sites, hours chopped and changed with no regard to personal circumstances. No help from managers, no communication and the booking on application where you view your payslips etc. Is an absolute joke. The pay is about 10p more than minimum wage. I did used to enjoy working for this company but they give their so called "clients" way too much power and too much say in what happens and it can affect your livelihood massively. Do not recommend unless you have no social life, no children, and don't mind a Monday and a Wednesday off work!
Pros
Struggle to find any now.
Cons

Nice but stressful sites
Security Officer (Current Employee) - Nottingham - 10 April 2023
Generally retail job isn’t for lazy people. Security will be required to stand for long hours. Whether you are doing 8 - 12 hours, you have 1 hour break. At least you have the liberty to go for break at your own peril within the stipulated break period. You might often encounter with shoplifters and people who might be disrespectful to you. However, you will meet decent and nice customers who will greet you and talk to you nicely. Sometimes managers can be nice; others might be a bit harsh.
Pros
Availability of shifts
Cons
Standing job

Best security company, best pay.
Security Officer (Current Employee) - Glastonbury, Somerset - 6 April 2023
Been working for TSS for a while now and they are easily the best security company around, they pay the best wages and look after thier employees really well. They always have plenty of work and extra shifts if you want them. They respect thier employees as reflected in thier pay rates unlike other security companies that expect a huge amount of work and pay as little as they can legally get away with.
Pros
Free uniform, pension and lots of support.
Cons
None

Make a list and most are bad
Security Officer (Former Employee) - All over - 15 March 2023
Same same old with most security company's if you keep your head down do as your told without question cover their every shift required be flexible and available 24/7 then you be OK. But if you have individuality, free speech, fairness and equality in your heart don't bother. If a client or manager takes dislike and want you gone your gone no questions asked
Pros
Plenty of hours
Cons
Bad management and disorganised
