Great part-time work
Tutor (Former Employee) - Kingston upon Thames, Greater London - 20 April 2020
Fantastic and flexible hours, completely decided by yourself. Brilliant online log system to track progress and working hours. Only thing I would say is that it is not a job you can do solely. It is fantastic part time to earn extra money and pays really well per hour, however unless you have a lot of students to teach in the same area, it can be difficult to gain enough hours per week.

Reliable Company
Personal Chemistry and Math's Tutor (Current Employee) - London - 2 January 2020
I work parttime for this company. So there is not as much interaction as if I was full time. They have a very good online set up which makes it easy to match with your students

Good place to work but, need more support for the tutors
Tutor (Former Employee) - Surrey - 9 October 2019
Tutor Doctor is a good place to work in general, respectful atmosphere and helpful admin team.
They need to provide more support (training, materials.. Etc) specially for first time tutors!! Or for tutors who aren't from teaching background.
Also the salary is low after you deduct the petrol and the tax you will be left with less than £5 / an hour!!!

flexible job
Tutor students (Current Employee) - United Kingdom - 19 September 2019
works well around other commitments, but it would be great to have more job opportunities during the day as the jobs on offer are limited to the hours after 4:30 p.m.
Pros
you are in charge of how much you want to work
Cons
limited working hours available

flexible working hours
Maths Tutor (Former Employee) - Muswell Hill, Greater London - 30 August 2019
You teach your lessons to students and after you finish you write session reports. It is easy to get help by emailing tutor doctor if you get stuck with anything. Tutor doctor finds the clients for you so you don't need to find them by yourself. You are in charge of what you teach so working with children can be fun and rewarding.
The working hours are flexible so you get to choose when you want to work.

Can be rewarding
Very pleasant management, I just did not get anything like enough work. Also, tutor sessions can be cancelled or ended at very short notice, very unreliable.
I really enjoyed the actual tutoring which can be quite rewarding.
Pros
job satisfaction - not a bad culture
Cons
hardly any work

Flexible and friendly
Tutor (Current Employee) - United Kingdom - 11 May 2018
More flexible and friendly than many other agencies out there. I only have minimum hours but good to build up confidence. Enjoy the variety. Most challenging part is coming up with lessons and resources. Good that they have a local focus.
Pros
Variety
Cons
Not enough hours available

Efficent private tutor agency
Private Tutor (Current Employee) - UK - 11 July 2017
I work as a private tutor through Tutor Doctor a couple of hours per day. Their booking system is really good, although you do have to chase the office up sometimes if you're available for a job posted on their system, and they occasionally don't bother to get back to you if your application to work for that client wasn't successful. I like not having to deal with payment from clients, although I do think that the agency commission is too high (they take over 60% from most of their tutors, so if the hourly rate is £50, we get less than £20). Overall, though, they're efficient, friendly and have a good market presence.
Pros
Efficient, friendly, good market presence
Cons
High agency commission

Economic tutor (Current Employee) - London, ENG - 7 November 2015
I organize myself in preparing the classes, and I really enjoy teaching other what I know. The best reward is to know that both of them achieved the grades wanted, and therefore they could continue their education.

Great fun teaching Psychology
Psychology Tutor (Current Employee) - Birmingham - 30 January 2013
In a typical day, I teach AS level & A2 level Psychology to students in the comfort of their own homes. I follow the AQA syllabus and teach every unit effectively and with passion. I use innovative strategies and resources for each lesson, so that students get a feel of different learning strategies. I learnt that students learn better if I keep my lessons interactive throughout. I manage my resources effectively, such as teaching using the internet, text books and past exam papers. I have one co-worker who I work with, and who I update about all my students after each lesson using an electronic device (i.e. laptop) through Tutor Doctor email. He is very supportive and approachable. The hardest part of my job is fitting in time to teach privately around my daily supply teaching job. I very much enjoy teaching Psychology, and gives me great satisfaction in passing on my subject knowledge to students.
Pros
enhances my subject knowledge.
Cons
work unsociable hours.
