Friendly
Customs clearance agent (Former Employee) - East Midlands Airport, Leicestershire - 18 May 2022
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedIt’s an amazing place to with as everyone is so friendly and caring. It’s a job that you’ll always miss because of the environment but the only downside was that the salary wasn’t enough, especially for the amount of work you do.
Pros
Full of loving people
Cons
Salary wasn’t good

Insights into UPS
Areas for improvement
- Support from manager
- Ability to learn new things
- Sense of belonging
Fast-paced and stressful
Pre Load/Sorter (Former Employee) - Reading, Berkshire - 8 May 2022
The supervisor for pre-load was amazing, she never pressured us and was/is an incredibly hard worker. The equipment provided by the company is lacking, to say we consistently had problems would be an understatement. They were typically resolved fairly quickly, however. Everyone, there was great and worked hard, it was easy to get along with everyone there.

Just a number
Pre loader (Former Employee) - Dartford - 5 May 2022
I found it to be a very easy but fast paced job. Colleges were nice but management not so good, to them you are just a number. Salary is okay but not great for the hours.

Poor work-life balance and a lack of understanding with regards to health
Office Clerk (Current Employee) - Stanford-le-Hope - 5 May 2022
If your face fits you’ll be fine, I have various health issues and have had no support at all. The industry is awful for this. Money is good but it’s not the most important thing for me.
Pros
Money is good
Cons
Management of health issues is poor

Don't want to work in this company.
Hub Sorter (Former Employee) - Tamworth, Staffordshire - 28 April 2022
Very dusty and rusty workplace. The tools, equipment and the management is awful. I have terrible experience for the UPS Dordon HUB. Always check the hourly rate! It was never accurate while I was working there.
Pros
Overtime opportunities
Cons
Workplace, management, accountancy is awfull.

Long term Back pain / Tiring, but good pay
Parcel sorter (Current Employee) - Tamworth - 25 April 2022
It’s good money, however I don’t like the fact that we don’t have any breaks and tou can easily keep getting hit by boxes if you don’t k is what your doing, which you won’t know because if it your first time they give you no training.
Pros
Good pay
Cons
No training

Some employee's do very little for their hours others do more a lot more than they should.Management do not have a clue who does what or if it gets done. The company is on its knee's, really poor customer service. Avoid working there.. Just hassle.. People always off sick..

Jobs at UPS
Relentless number chasing
Driver (Current Employee) - London, Greater London - 19 April 2022
I've worked for UPS for many years, it used to be good but now it's a relentless chase for productivity figures, to a point that management would rather have undelivered parcels rather than have their depot productivity drop below a threshold, drivers are routinely sent out with areas they wouldn't normally cover so that a route can be removed so productivity for those drivers on routes increase but at the sacrifice of missed deliveries. Management systematically bully drivers physiologically saying they have to delivery so many drops per day, new drivers aren't given support nor help to get up to speed but are instead told they have to be able to do xx many deliveries by a certain time, unsurprisingly they don't last long. Money is good but not good enough for the stress they put you under. The company makes billions in profit every year but offers a paltry increase for drivers, office staff are paid barely above minimum wage yet are expected to deal with irate customers daily and ignorant and awkward drivers. Don't get sick either as when you phone in you'll be guilt tripped into working under the threat of not being paid.

Nice people , good management
Multi Drop Delivery Driver (Current Employee) - West London - 12 April 2022
Work is good , can go ahead in the company . The salary is not enough for the work involved ... you may have to wait a while ( 1 year or more ) to get a full route so you can learn it and make your work a lot easyer

Fast Paced but Rewarding
Multi Drop Driver (Current Employee) - Leeds - 4 April 2022
The company itself is very good and i was Lucky to have a good Management team at Leeds. Once your out there on your own then it is very stressful!! This would take up to a year to really get the hang off whilst making it more enjoyable!! They are very good at paying overtime.
Pros
Good Earnings and good Management
Cons
Stressful

Demanding and Exhausting
Warehouse Worker (Current Employee) - Stanford-Le-Hope, Essex - 29 March 2022
The pay isn’t awful but for the work you do a lot more is deserved. It’s VERY physical - if you have back issues etc this job is not for you. Overtime is a given - you don’t get a choice and have to stay until the work is complete. Your start time is 99% of the time never going to be as was advertised. You’ll always be required to come earlier. Avoid the twilight shift - they get the raw deal, they are the only shift that get rota’d in on Bank Holidays and over Christmas - it’s also the busiest shift at SLH. Staff turnover is high - more out than in leading to a severe lack of staff, for some reason they don’t like employing staff or making sure enough staff to run sufficiently - yet wonder why they’re losing customers. Sickness is high due to being over worked. Some teamleaders are very lazy. Management do not care if you’re unwell or struggling with the crazy workload. Senior management are even worse. Health & safety means nothing here - hazards everywhere Positives - the other warehouse staff are friendly Shifts suit people not wanting a fulltime job When staffed correctly it’s managable

Repetitive
Warehouse Operative (Current Employee) - Leyland - 29 March 2022
Don't work through and agency called 3B Recruitment, won't pay your wages right and laugh at you and make you feel like you're worthless . UPS workers however were fairly easy to get on with

Relaxed workplace
Customs clearance advisor (Current Employee) - Castle Donington - 28 March 2022
Depending on the department you work on, it’s a relaxed work space with good hours. The rate of pay is average. Team leaders do give the best support and help you whenever you need it.

Awful
Parcel Sorter, UPS (Former Employee) - Northampton - 26 March 2022
Early hours. No duty of care, expect you to stay late everyday and work you like machines. High turnover on staff. You have a laugh with other staff. Very physical

Hard work but rewarding
Hard and very tiring job but pays really well. If you get a set run that you can learn then it’s a great job. Don’t learn to many runs as you’ll be moved around a lot.

Agency drivers
Agency Driver (Current Employee) - Exeter, Devon - 24 March 2022
I have worked for the Exeter branch of UPS as an agency driver for over one year, and I love it. Start time is not to early, although finishing times can be as late as 7.30. But all this depends on the route of the day and your own competence. Being an agency driver, you know that you are not going to get the best or easiest routes, so don't expect them. If you are willing to work, then you will get the hang of things quite quickly. (although being a now self confessed technophobe, I still cannot get the hang of the hand held computer known as the DIAD) If you have a lazy attitude, then you may as well go and work for someone else. From early in the morning, everyone one does their bit to help things go smoothly. If you are employed to do a job, and then cannot be bothered to do it, then someone else has to do their job, and yours. That is where most problems arise. So don't join UPS if you are lazy. At UPS, the jobs are not difficult, just time consuming and occasionally frustrating, especially whilst driving all day with other road users such as cyclists, horses, learner drivers, and worst of all, Amazon drivers. The pay structure is excellent. Management are very good and polite, until YOU annoy them. The official UPS drivers do have a macabre sense of humour, but you get used to that and quickly join in. Then it's like one big dysfunctional family, whom actually get the job done with some pride, and they are always prepared to help each other out. Everyone grumbles about their job at times. At UPS, many drivers have been there for decades, and even though they are -
Pros
Good pay, type of family atmosphere
Cons
Keep smashing my wing mirrors on country lanes

Stressful job and management don't have a clue
Package Car Driver (Current Employee) - Abingdon - 24 March 2022
This is a very stressful job and is made worse by the ineptitude of management to come together with a good plan to get each driver through there day.
