uber is a very trying job there is no guarantee of a good week
Taxi Driver (Current Employee) - Glasgow - 1 December 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? Being safe and customer experience .being Yr own boss picking Yr own hours What is the most stressful part about working at the company? There is to many drivers uber have saturated the area we work in this makes it so hard to work week days as the prices are far to low so u are always forced to work far to many hrs wich make it so easy to burn yrself out .uber take 25 percent this to me is far to much .I could go on there is far to many negatives to good when it comes to making a good wage .so if u come on board welcome to over 70 hours a week god bless What is the work environment and culture like at the company? There is no culture no contact with others unless Yr in the airport cue What is a typical day like for you at the company? Waiting time and and uncertainty of Yr fare price

Jobs at Uber
Drive when you want
Driver (Current Employee) - London, Greater London - 2 September 2023
Used to be very good, nowadays its not busy at all and making £100 a day feels impossible to do. Looking at all other costs involved in self employment eg car maintenance, tfl licences, insurance, accountant fees, its a must that you earn at least £150 a day.
Pros
Work when you want
Cons
If its not busy, you will be hours without any jobs

Alright
Driver (Former Employee) - Canning Town Station - 11 July 2023
Wasn’t bad at all I wouldn’t say it’s the best as the waiting times to get the order is long, other than that it’s alright, they don’t send you too far when you have a bike and you get to take the money you earned the same day which is a very good benefit

Insights into Uber
What people like
- General feeling of work happiness
- Clear sense of purpose
- Time and location flexibility
Areas for improvement
- Support from manager
- Fair pay for job
- Sense of belonging
Exchange your time for pennies
Uber Driver (Former Employee) - London, Greater London - 24 May 2023
Long hours to make decent money to pay your bills absolutely no money left to do anything. It’s a scam because most people don’t calculate expenses properly and end up paying too much for the car or taxes at the end.

Uber eat is off in Manchester
Delivery driver (Current Employee) - Manchester - 10 May 2023
It's very demanding, I worked for 10 hours a day and just get half of the minimum wage! They should think about this situation! I try to find another job

Modern day slavery
They take up to 50% in commission sometimes. Long hours no idea how the algorithm works, they play with prices as they like, no respect for the drivers, I really do not have nothing good to say.

Not enough money, long hours and to many drivers, way to many!
Taxi Driver (Current Employee) - Leeds, West Yorkshire - 24 April 2023
It used to be good, honestly I've had to get a second job working 5 days a week. I only do this as a part time business. It's really dead these days, your waiting around for a job over an hour. You go out at peak times and your just stuck in traffic, in 4 or 5 hours your lucky making 40 quid. Main reason is, TOO MANY UBER DRIVERS, I won't recommend doing this as a full time job. The wear and tear, petrol, insurance, all the council fees yearly, Mot etc, your not left with much. My employed job has kept me going, with uber i would have been homeless. (you think I'm joking?) I wish I was joking, I won't have been able to pay my mortgage.
Cons
Too many drivers, long hours, costs.

Works available as long as put the hours in, also gives you free time to spend with family and loved ones especially if you have a young family that is a big plus

Not great
Uber Eats Delivery Cyclist (Current Employee) - Birmingham - 5 March 2023
It's a delivery job so there isn't much to say, good as part time if you're cycling but you won't be paid enough to live really without doing something else.

Decent
Driver (Current Employee) - Manchester - 21 February 2023
Good hours work when you want always got bonuses on, always socialising keeps you on your feet, time goes fast whilst you are driving when it is busy and you get orders coming through one after another the money stacks fast without realising. Can take money out when you want it for 50p or wait for weekly pay

You decide how much you work and how much you want to earn
UBER Driver (Current Employee) - London - 31 January 2023
good job for someone who is well organized and needs a very flexible job, If you like working with people then you shouldn't have any problems, you must pay attention to the regulations so as not to pay fines, any accident eliminates you from work for a long period, the application is blocked by UBER, very low profitability when you count all operating costs, insurance, fuel, tolls, car maintenance and possible car breakdowns, in the event of a collision this work loses its sense,
Pros
You decide how much, where and for how long you want to work
Cons
high risk of accidents and paying fines, sometimes difficult customers

Not bad but your just another number
Private Hire Driver (Current Employee) - Edinburgh - 13 January 2023
Pay should be set to a higher minimum and then we would have no need to cherry pick job, really good parts is that you get holiday pay and can pick and choose jobs and start and finish time

Not a fit and proper company.
Uber partner (Current Employee) - West Yorkshire - 2 January 2023
Uber is not a fit and proper company, exploitation on it's partners, I've had my private hire licence badge in Leeds for 20years and been on the uber platform for nearly 7 year's. Uber promise you the world, but be careful majority of uber is false promises. Pension, sickness, holiday pay and other benefits look great in context, but not really. The trip tariffs very poor, distance trip's not worth working for, average above minimum wage on good days, please do your research before making the to join uber.
Pros
Good question
Cons
Long, long hour's.

Side gig. Pay has decreased as Uber takes more than they used to.
DRiver (Former Employee) - South East - 14 December 2022
Doing this temporarily as I look for a new career. Good flexibility. But thrashing my vehicle for little pay. Going to try something else, soon. The positive is I can do this as I move between cities and avoid spending all my savings.
Pros
flexibility.
Cons
EVerything else.

A lot of good but the bad outways the good
Private hire driver (Current Employee) - Liverpool, Merseyside - 29 November 2022
Been with Uber for just over a year. Initially the earnings were pretty good. Over the course of this year earnigs have dropped considerally. Other local companies have increased fares in line with rising operating costs. Uber did not. with Ubers new dynamic pricing structure drivers are now earning even less.We do this job for the money. Everything else about Uber is good, pick and choose what jobs you want, work when you want, customers are better than the local companies as is is all in app card payments.
Pros
very easy to work
Cons
very poor earnings

Easy work but long hours, odd times.
Driver (Current Employee) - South East - 4 November 2022
Easy work if know your area. However there's no security at all, you can be deactivated instantly for silly reasons.Pay is completely rubbish considering the hours and days one must put in. Uber is always claiming that best drivers earn up to £30/hour, that however doesn't include any dead times between jobs, you can cash in £150 in 5 hours of continuous driving but you may well have other 5 hours of waiting times in between, totaling 10 hours of work for thise £150 cashed in.
Pros
Clean work
Cons
Long hours

Partner-Driver (Current Employee) - Edinburgh, City of Edinburgh - 4 August 2022
Decent job . Great work life balance . You can make decent money but you need your own car which can be expensive at times (a lot of wear + tear, repairs etc)
