I have always worked at the QE since qualifying. I love my job however struggle with management who are unsupportive and lack communication. Management need better health and well being training in order to support staff.

Professional, enthusiastic environment

Staff are very professional. We make sure to keep patient confidentiality at all times. Staff are very supportive and friendly What is a typical day like for you at the company?I will come in, have handover. After we will prepare to make the beds. We will provide personal care for those who are supported in that way. We will do patient observations, blood pressure, temperature oxygen levels and so on.

I've had the privilege of witnessing their growth, from their first steps to their first words, and it's heartwarming to play a role in their development.The supportive and friendly atmosphere at the nursery has made my job a true pleasure. My colleagues are not just coworkers but also friends, and together, we create a nurturing and stimulating environment for the children.

Decent at ground level

The work itself isn't too bad day by day. Work days are made good when working amongst a great team. Progression can be good in the right roles, when having the right support and connections. Unfortunately more often than not promotion is awarded to a fitting face, rather than personal accolade in respect to the prospective roles.

Good systems, poor parking, bad management

What is the best part of working at the company?I was supported well by team leader, the IT systems were good (for NHS) and easy to navigate.What is the most stressful part about working at the company?The parking arrangements. Not enough on site. What is the work environment and culture like at the company?Not great, higher management aloof and unsupportive. Offices tatty and dates. Backbiting common.What is a typical day like for you at the company?Stressful start to the day finding parking. Head down working all day only time for short breaks. Can get the job done though and team leader was supportive.

Fast paced environment

My job is to provide administrative support to the department. I've learnt a few new skills in this role that is beneficial to educational development. The management is supportive. Most of my colleagues are friendly an inclusive. The hardest part of the job is the long hours, which is understandable due to the nature of the role. The most enjoyable part of the job is knowing that I have done it to the best of my ability.

Awful place to work. Bullying and lies. Promotions are corrupt and dont work at Melchett road. Its terrible working here now with the New Managers.

It use to be a great place to work but not anymore. People are promoted even though their behaviour is terrible. Its corrupt and the Managers are so unpopular with the warehouse staff. They lie and keep the truth from HR and the good hardworking staff leave. The person who should have been in charge left recently.

I care more about my cancer patients as a secretary than management do about seeing them.

What is the best part of working at the company?My colleagues. The bullying continues, regardless of investigations and the media. What is the most stressful part about working at the company?Bullying, excessive workloads, clinical risk of additional duties when management have not planned for under staffing due to leavers What is the work environment and culture like at the company?Horrendous. Stressful. Backstabbing. Management are liars. What is a typical day like for you at the company?Telling cancer patients their annual surveillance is 3 years out of date and we still have no appointments. 4 week breach on 2 week wait referrals.

Negative environment to work in

Management promise so much return little. Management have favourites who gain all overtime and are fast tracked prioritised for any promotions that become available. Work culture of bullying.

Working bank hours was not that bad as there would be shifts available nearly everyday. However shifts can be draining, you can come across nice supportive staff members, sometimes very unhelpful staff rather than helping you as you are new on the ward for the day they rather choose not to. Can be a toxic workplace when most staff just be gossiping all day.

Plenty of Shifts

I worked as a bank nurse for 5 years at QEHB- There were always ample shifts and the opportunity to nurse on a variety of wards. Like all ward based nursing, the shifts can be both physically and emotionally draining.

Good people, lack of staff

Dreadful shift patterns

Shift porter for the last 37 years (Former Employee) - Solihull - 29 March 2023

Loved my job until management came along who started empire building with in the Facilities departments. The us and them syndrome between management and the portering and house keeping was dreadful and if you became a supervisor or higher they were told that all those work friends you had are no longer your friends and would be frowned upon if your seen being friendly. The shift patterns were making people ill as most of the time you worked 7 days before a day of and worked all the bank holidays be it 6-2 2-10 10-6 when it was your day off you were to tired to do anything, and with out exaggeration most of the staff now have major back and shoulder problems due to lack of correct equipment to do the job.
