Inspiring employees, Stagnant employer
Administrator (Current Employee) - Stirling, Stirlingshire - 19 May 2020
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedWhile the organisation is full of amazing and inspiring employees in all areas that genuinely care about the student body, the organisation as a whole and the top management simply do not seem to care anymore. Although there are pockets of fantastic work going on across the organisation, overall new ideas are constantly shot down and discarded and there is little opportunity for advancement and progression. There is a sense that many departments have become stagnant in their activity with the same projects repeatedly happening and anything new being ignored. This has led to no sense of pride or ownership in any of the work.
Pros
Stunning place to work, Amazing people, Fantastic pension
Cons
Stagnant workplace, Uninspiring work load, Uncaring management

Horrible
Housekeeper (Former Employee) - Stirling, Stirlingshire - 13 March 2020
I spent many years here as a housekeeper & was treated like an animal. Management are BULLIES!! Honestly nothing is worth working there for. You will be told what to do not asked, there will be no please or thank you. Your personal life will not be personal as manager uses it against you & tells the other 62 housekeeping staff & office staff your business to make your working life worse

Brilliant job if you really give it your all
STUDENT AMBASSADOR (Former Employee) - Stirling - 10 March 2020
This can be a great job if you give it 110%. Because of the casualness of the hours a lot of the staff don't treat it like a real job and are very unreliable. But if you give this job your all it's absolutely brilliant and gives you so many fantastic opportunities. If you don't sign up to do a lot of work and get to know the managers the opportunities won't be there as much, but if you make yourself known to be a hard worker it can open lots of doors. Open days are great fun when the staff morale is up so it's worth being friendly and getting to know other ambassadors. Really a great job to have whilst you're at uni, way better than retail or bar work!

Unpleasant
Temporary contract (Former Employee) - Stirling - 24 August 2019
Unpleasant all round. parking system is ridiculous. Most staff are unfriendly and unhelpful unless your face fits. The culture in Finance is toxic. I agree with the two other negative reviews, staff talking about students nastily, it’s a money making business more than an educational facility. Lack of help or support for students in difficulty.
Pros
None
Cons
Lack of staff facilities

great place to work
Senior Sales & Marketing Executive (Current Employee) - Stirling - 3 August 2019
The message is the information the sender wishes the audience to receive and understand. The message is encoded by the sender. i.e. the sender chooses the words and medium that suits the message they wish to convey.

It was a fun and enjoyable placement opportunity
Research Assistant (Part-Time Voluntary) (Former Employee) - Stirling - 30 July 2019
I worked as a neuropsychology research assistant for a lecturer at the university and was given the opportunity to gain hands-on experience using state-of-the-art eye-tracking technology as well as learning about an area of psychology I was previously unfamiliar with.

Great working environment
Administrative Officer (Former Employee) - Stirling, UK - 10 July 2019
Unfortunately this was a temporary position lasting only a few weeks. Great, relaxed working culture, although extremely busy and proactive. Management was exceptional and it was a pleasure to go to work. Predominantly administrative position as opposed to customer service role, occasionally assisting disabled/handicapped students from a wide cultural background with their queries and problems.
Pros
Wonderful Campus to walk around during lunch break
Cons
Temporary position

Great employers to students
Telephone Fundraiser (Former Employee) - Stirling - 8 October 2018
I worked here while I was a student and they were very flexible, completely tailored the employment experience to student life (which I guess is expected from a University).

A tough job but a great learning experience
Stock worker (Former Employee) - Stirling - 7 July 2018
The work days were long and being outdoors, not always fun, especially in the winter. However, the ability to learn and further skills made up for this tough days.

Administrator (Former Employee) - Stirling - 2 February 2018
Good management and growth potential.Strong working culture. Able to take on a lot of responsbility. Supportive staff. A heavy workload. But good if you want to take on board additional work in other departments. Opportunities to get promoted.

Going dowhill fast
Administrative Assistant (Current Employee) - Stirling - 23 April 2016
Great environment to work in, lovely campus have met a FEW nice people there. Most Staff are not friendly, have had both Academic, HOD walk by in the halls without so much as a glance of recognition. Colleagues work in a fish bowl, no interaction unless you're in their clique. NO formal training despite saying they provided training during initial interview, you're pretty much given instruction and left to fend for yourself. Asking for help is looked at as incompetency. Speaking with employees who've been with the University for a number of years, the institute is more of a money making business, than a learning institution.
Despite being warm and friendly to students, employees talk about them behind their backs and almost seem annoyed at assisting students, especially foreign students.
Pros
excellent work hours and salary
Cons
Horrible work environment
