Good to work for

Provided care for client's with complex conditions, mainly 24 hour + shifts for the client's that I personally worked with.

Took client's away on holiday and supported them to be able to live in their own home.

Helpful team

I joined up worried about 0 hours but now love the flexibility. Management try to get you as much work as they can but give client choice so if you don’t click with the client it might not work. Some support workers in it for the money but everyone tries to work hard My manager always there to listen

Community Support Worker, ABI's

Started off OK but because of my background I was only ever given complex, high pressure clients. When I asked if I could have a mix of Complex and more relaxed clients amazingly none were available. Surprised me how I could do cover for those having a break from complex with 'easier' clients but nothing was available for me to have same break! Pay rate trumpeted as 'above average' for the sector, but when you equal out the alleged 'stand down' period it was just over minimum wage. Work given to those in the clique, otherwise thrown scraps I once questioned what would happen if I needed emergency help as one of my clients was particularly violent (personal threats of actual violence toward me and chased of property a few times) and was in the middle of no-where, total lack of understanding and told 'maybe be able to get someone to you in 3 hours'. They are interested in a client base and the money but if you aren't in the clique forget job satisfaction.
