I enjoy working with Varsity Tutors, I feel valued through the feedback I receive from the company and clients. It is rewarding to see the impact of the support given to my students as I see them grow in confidence and excel. VT are swift to resolve any technical issues that may arise in the course of tutoring and there is a study provision of tutoring leads. The job is flexible and fits around my schedule and payment is swift and straight forward.

Pros

Flexible, study income, rewarding, pleasant and supportive staff, great clients.

Cons

Payment rate is low for expertise, hours put in plus there is no sense of progression after long period of time working with VT

Toxic, always looking for mistakes, the money is very very low, no chance to have day off , you don't even receive sick pay, managers don't understand

Not many students and the system is awful

The student booking system is terrible you get less than 30 seconds at times. The students can cancel at the last minute so there is no continuity. There is no ability to talk to people and they take 2-5 days to respond to any queries. I found there was no ability for them to fill your timetable so I had 1 student and wasn't able to gain any others they accidentally deleted that student for 2 weeks and then added them back after they queried if I had discontinued working with them. Mostly awful to plan for sessions as their materials aren't very good and you have to use other sources anyway. I managed 8 weeks with this company and they did nothing to help with the problems faced.

Pros

work from home

Cons

not enough students, no students outside of term-time

Not a pleasant experience

I was given a job offer in July, but I did not start working and earning until September. Also I was denied several teaching opportunities. My contract was terminated abruptly for no justified reason

Fast paced , exciting

Great for graduates or those looking for career progression. A level of ambiguity is required, you must be prepared to acknowledge that some things will not get fixed immediately.Remote working, company equipment provided, helpful team members in every department.
