Awful
Pub Supervisor (Former Employee) - Farnborough - 21 June 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? The best thing about working for Village is having gym access and discount on protein shakes and 40% off everything in the pub & grill. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Run out of hours , Not allowed to eat or dink in restaurant without permission even on days off, lazy staff and not well managed! What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Not the best just sporty & casual What is a typical day like for you at the company? Boring and stressful when manager leaves you to do everything

Overall positive working environment
Chef de Partie (Current Employee) - Coventry, West Midlands - 27 March 2023
Nice place with good facilities and friendly staff. Perks of free gym membership and staff discount. Understaffed in my department. Unsociable working hours which are to be expected in hospitality.

Productive and Fun Workspace
Personal Trainer (Former Employee) - Esher, Surrey - 20 March 2023
Great place to work with a great team of people. Great management and even greater clients! No progressions in pay even if you are performing better yearly with hitting targets or day to day work.

Productive and fun workplace
Spa Therapist (Former Employee) - Coventry, West Midlands - 14 March 2023
Absolutely loved being a spa therapist here everyone I worked with was lovely and manger was amazing. This is a place where my confidence really grew, it was a very fun environment and I never dreaded coming to work. It’s such a shame it closed down and I lost my employment here due to covid-19 because I loved working there and still miss it to this day

Tiring and not enjoyable
Housekeeper/Cleaner (Current Employee) - Portsmouth, Hampshire - 12 March 2023
Management always has their favourites, no weekends off ever, always exhausted due to the physicality of the job, no support. Can be very hard to get many hours in so in the end pay isn’t always the best.
Pros
Going home
Cons
No work life balance

Stressful, unsupportive and lack of training
Receptionist (Former Employee) - Greater Manchester - 17 February 2023
Wouldn’t recommend working here, it was an extremely stressful job where I found I was emotionally exhausted. I was expected to complete the jobs of 3 different departments for basic wage. Management was not good to work for at all.
Pros
Gym membership

Long hours
Meetings and Events Assistant (Former Employee) - Blackpool, Lancashire - 16 February 2023
Long hours go unnoticed, meet great people there. Working until 2/3 am and then back it at 12 am next day it’s not ideal. Pay is not to great for the work and stress your under.

Awful place of work
Lifeguard/Leisure Assistant (Former Employee) - Portsmouth, Hampshire - 15 February 2023
Between the ridiculously unsocial hours and the bare minimum pay, you can expect to spend your day here being looked down upon from the cliquey sales team. No room for career development & the ask to be put in additional courses is practically laughed at, despite being offered to other departments. Only work here if you’re content with not moving forward in your career.

Poor values
Restaurant Manager (Former Employee) - Hyde, Greater Manchester - 14 February 2023
Not a people led business. Very much focused on making savings, cutting costs and it shows in all of the quality of ingredients etc. Big fuss made over high level management (Regional Dirs, Ops Dir, etc) and they love the attention of gifts in rooms, VIP treatment but this isn't given to team members or guests.

Typical housekeeping job, not great, not terrible
Housekeeper (Former Employee) - Glasgow - 12 February 2023
I worked there pre-Covid, the housekeeping staff were overworked and underpaid as in most hotel chains, but I had a friendly team which made work better.

It’s okay when it’s good but some members of staff are really rude and you can do no good around them spoiling the whole job. Managers are great overall okay

Staff were great to work with minus the management
Leisure Membership Sales Advisor (Former Employee) - Maidstone - 12 January 2023
Not enough training given and was told I’d receive more support but I didn’t so was let go unfairly, hated lying to the members that throng a would be working soon when they weren’t. Staff were great to work with however certain management were not supportive. Very clicky environment, very high turnover of staff too. Long hours, covering shifts out of choice and wanting to help out the team and received no acknowledgment of appreciation, neither do you get positive feedback from making targets or doing well, always more you can do
Pros
Free membership
Cons
No appreciation, always more you can do

Great company
Team Leader- starbucks (Current Employee) - Swindon - 9 January 2023
My experience with the company has been really good. They company as a whole look after you, we get great benefits and the company offer support if you feel as though you are struggling. The general manager at the hotel is lovely and approachable and would go out of his way to make everyone feel appreciated and part of the team. This is by far one of the better places I’ve worked!
Pros
Lots of benefits
Cons
Hours can sometimes be long
