Hampstead is a fast paced environment where high quality care is given. You need to be a bit thick skinned and confident in your abilities but there are still plenty of opportunities to learn and improve skills and knowledge. Very interesting and varied caseload. Apart from the building itself there are excellent facilities and equipment. It's a shame management fail to realise employees worth and have lost multiple great staff members because of this, usually overpay related issues
Interesting varied caseload, lovely colleagues, excellent quality of care
Stressful at times, too busy for building, No pay structure
Some members of staff are lovely to work with, some on the other hand aren’t as friendly. Staff are overworked and not paid enough for the level of care that they give. It can be very mentally draining at times. Need more members of staff to balance work loads. Facilities were nice (mostly lab) although the staff area could have more of an upgrade.
Discounted vet fees, friendly colleagues, some of the most caring nurses you’ll meet.
Very busy, incompetent staff
Great people work here very good team. Very hot in the summer as no good air con and wards are in the basement. Lots of flights of stairs which are breaking to get to the lab. Hard to get training in as lottery for when you will go. Very demanding place to work but team make it a fun and supportive place
free lunch great people
hot and stuffy in the summer. low staff moral at times
Cattery Assistant - Long hours, enjoyable work, busy enviroment, colleauges unflexible to an extent. Patient Care Assistant - Enjoyable, varied work, busy atmosphere, felixible and enaging colleauges. Able to learn about veterinary procedures.
discount on veterinary services
This is a place where you get to learn a lot in a short period of time, which can be intimidating, but also a lot of fun if you like thinking on your feet. Co-workers are great, providing you with support if/when necessary. The hardest part of the job, as a relatively new employee, is the high standard of care they provide to the clients, and being able to match that. Especially with the high case loads from London Veterinary Specialist across the road and the high intensity of the emergency and critical care cases. Most enjoyable part of the job is the great opportunity to learn so much every day. No day is the same.
