Decent enough if you don't have a life outside of work

Indeed featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
I really enjoyed my time at Virgin Holidays, worked there for 2 years. A great company with excellent values. I do however have to mention there is not much of a work life balance, the annualised hours in place are the worst thing the company could have ever done and were the reason I've left. If you don't have any commitments in life then go for it, but if you do good luck and be prepared to sacrifice all of your time.

Stressful

Fantastic company to work for, but the sales and service department is extremely stressful. Sometimes 600+ calls holding. Pay was terrible unless you were good at selling to build a good commission. Otherwise you would only be getting 1000 a month

Pros

Lots of benefits, discounts and food

Cons

Awful pay.

No 2 days are the same, fun and rewarding

Our normal day to day tasks and schedule would run close to being the same each day but this differed by flight schedule and delays etcYou get thrown in the deep end which i enjoy as each scenario warrants a different solution. It is a very varied role, Management were very good with following through with what they had promised and i felt heard and valued in my roleIt could get pretty crazy when there are delays or changes for the day but you learn to deal with these as they come

Pros

Discount on holiday breaks, supportive company, opportunity for progression

Cons

If you don't like shift work this would not be ideal, Busy days during the summer

I loved it at first but hitting targets was hard

I worked there for 1 year and a half before getting made redundant due to covid..It's a lovely company to work for and the lush virgin uniform but very stressful targets...If you didn't hit you would go on a pip it was called which you was monitored by management which wasn't nice...My dreams all went down hill after the stress of targets to be honest ..I longed so long to be a virgin girl but it wasn't as I thought it was...If I went back I would apply for a different position within the airport not retail...If your not into stressful targets this is not for you

Pros

The benefits

Cons

The stressful targets

Amazing company!

Loved every second of working for VHOLS. Amazing workplace, from head office to retail - the staff are great. Would highly recommend working for them. They give you the best work life and benefits. 5 star for Virgin Holidays. If I get the chance to go back, I would grab with both hands!

good perks

the perks was the main part of the job. the targets are stressful and you end up with just being a number to the company. being made redundant felt like they didn't care about their employees after this.

Pros

7 free flights

Cons

high target

Great Benefits

Good points - free flights Bad points - constantly restructuring of management and processes so no job security. Bullying and mean girl behaviour allowed. Lower than average basic salary and unachievable targets so no bonus.

Great company

Great opportunities and good work life balance, great perks to see the world Managing a small team on the road and in the office working closely with each one motivating to get the best results. Making rapport with each person was my most enjoyable job and watching people grow and exceed in their roles. I learnt how to keep a customer satisfied as well as support and drive a team to achieve their goals. I love to inspire and develop a person and motivate them to set personal goals and work towards them. I found it hard that the company did not follow up with sufficient training when introducing new systems or policies.

Pros

Flexibility, meeting customer satisfaction, team building

Cons

Lack of training, Communication

Virgin Holidays is the most loved Travel Company

Working at Virgin Holidays was fast paced as well as fun.We worked hard and played hard. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Virgin and honestly thought I would retire working for this amazing company. Due to Covid-19 I had to make a very difficult decision and take Voluntary Severance. The company I loved to work for showed me how to work hard and see the benefits of a work life balance. Virgin was not only my place of work, but also my 2nd family.

Perfect set time job

Perfect for part time workers Hard to hit unrealistic targets so don’t fully rely on commissions. but still a great company to work for. I lived too far away which made my day very long with travelling

Competative, forever changing and fun

Virgin Holiday was a good company to work for. They treated their staff really well and the management team was proactive, open to ideas and promoted collaboration. The commercials and packages were always changing so you had to be adaptable with a growth mindset

Not great

Great concessions after 6 months but horrible late shifts and no weekends off ever! Ramming targets down your neck about 10-15 times a day via email. Customers were constantly harassed to book

Pros

Free flights after 6 months (taxes payable)

Cons

No proper lunch breaks. No overtime. No weekends off . Very target driven

Over worked, under paid

The workload I was given was simply too much for one person to achieve and the support was simply none existent. I wouldn't ever work there again or recommend that anyone else does.

worst place ever, two faced staff and lack of support

the shops are always dead but you are required to work to meet the targets for their company and constant reviews and insecurity of your job when you don't meet your target. The staff are arrogant and will do anything to get people who's face doesn't ft out with little support from management in building and progressing. The same staff get all of the rewards, trips, holidays paid by the company and you work for minimum wage constantly pressured about targets and whether you are going to meet them. Unneccessary stress for minimum wage
