The job itself is very easy. You will need to run like mad to get a decent wage and do 4 nights out a week. Trucks are comfortable but are always breaking down, servicing is done by Renault Reading who are the worst. Higher management think they are so much better that they are to the state of being over the top when it suits. If you face fits then you stay but if not you in for a rough time. Their rules are very strict and massively over the top (management again).
Pros

Cons
Away all week if you want good money.
Don’t bother working here, you will be asked to work all the hours god made, management from outside your department get you sacked if you’re not up to their standards, you will be asked to go off and do other jobs that are not in your job description, you will be asked to achieve impossible tasks that make you feel like you’re ready for the knackers yard. If you’re looking for a job in waste management, this one is a no go. You’re worth more than what this company would treat you like
Pros
Fair pay
Cons
Corrupt greedy management
Site manager scared to lose job so yes man without any consideration other than needs other biddable blokes. Lack of respect. Will discipline everyone as a company so sending out completely wrong employer message. Very anti-inclusive except do like overseas workers which in their view are easier to acheive anove plans. Yes H & S but otherwise dickensian view of servants not fellow workers
Pros
None specific
Cons
Decisions and strange rule of fear
Management handle staff appallingly and are complete snakes. Unfair redundancies have been made over the years, regardless of your dedication and effort, it’s always the favourites who win, and they moan at the silliest things. No matter how much effort and time you put in to the work, they will always find something to moan about - even if you’re disabled and arrive 2 minutes late because you struggle to walk. Do not recommend working for this company, especially a particular office in kent.
Cons
Unfairness
Good work life balance, managers are supportive with your work and not micro managing at all. Most enjoyable part is working on the sites and feeling you're a part of something worthwhile and good for the environment at large! Hardest part are all the changes and constant restructuring that occur every year. No real career structure and most people are ex forces so you feel if you're not one of them, then you're less inclined to progress in the company. Good company overall with lots of potential but they need to focus more on real employee engagement and not just words.
Pros
Good working environment on site, good teams on site.
Cons
No strategic direction in the business.
Would still be there if the place had not had a fire which has caused us to close Great place to work which took me and trained me up to be a transport manager
I found viridor a excellant place to work, lots of training offered.
Engagement is taken seriously and the managers wanted to succeed
Compliance and safety were important to them as a business.
Pros

Is Indeed your favorite place to learn about companies?
Favoritism to suppliers, for own gain, employ people with no idea how to do the job, make them supervisors, let them side step health and safety, putting people in danger.
Hse's need to visit sites in devon, danger waiting to happen.
If you are educated or experienced don't go to viridor.
Pros
None
Cons
Long hours poor pay, just a number
Its unbelievable! The management haven't got a clue what's going on! The supervisor should be a supervisor at a food outlet because all he has is a knife in his hand. The transport planner should stick to playing with Lego! Apart from people in positions above trying to make out they know what there doing it's ok! Personally If you want to live another day! Stay clear!!

Cons
Fat controller/managment
Regular meetings with good site discussions, strict on H&S kept checks on site management overall I enjoyed working for Viridor.
I had 30 sites and carried out full procedure RAMS, Records, Commissioning and labour/Job Control. Site staff were very helpful in arranging shutdowns ect.
Pros
Accommodation and meals paid for
Cons
Excess travelling
i absolutely enjoyed working with my colleagues at viridor, i worked amongst a team of 3 makes and 1 female manager.
a typical day consist of arranging all training material for the training schedule for the day ensure all candidates attend, ensure all training for staff related to each role is completed in a timely manner.
schedule all the training with the sits and the trainer, arrange all appropriate transport and then cross charge the site. update and send out all certificates to the relevant sites in ready ness of CQC random check.
This company holds no regards for loyal hard working committed employees.
A total disregard for people who are willing to go that extra mile.
I worked for Viridor for 15 years and was cast into the wilderness by a hostile bigoted management system.
Donyatt go there.
Horrendous company full of empire builders. Poor management with zero direction. No concern for employee wellbeing and truly treated as a number nothing more. Internal politics run the show here with no departments working together and everyone trying to be your boss. Run for the hills
Decent pay but strong stomach required. Totally disgusting job.New production manager started whom I knew from previous employment else where, no back ground check made, he bluffed the position as he was only a charge hand. Say they are big on safety but an HSE AUDIT ON LOLER AND PUWER COMBINED WITH AN OUT OF DATE DISCHARGE CONCENT IS S JOKE
management are a total waste of time, I wondered at times if they actually wanted to keep employees the way they are dealt with. They have a good written practices ,policies and procedures and terms but in reality it is ignored and a blind eye is turned when they want it and the chain of command are all in it together..Good luck
Found the staff to be a bit on the brown nosing side of culture. Drivers good lads, but experienced a lot of back stabbing, especially when one felt threatened by my academic achievement. Pay is abysmal for a months pay.
