It’s okay
Tester (Current Employee) - Doncaster, South Yorkshire - 7 September 2023
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedIt’s a decent place to work just constantly making redundancies . Most managers are sound . Top managers seem to be a problem . They come in promising everything and with 9-10 months they’ve done nothing .

Areas for improvement
- Trust in colleagues
- Sense of belonging
- Support from manager
Cost cutting and redundancies
worker (Former Employee) - Doncaster, South Yorkshire - 21 August 2023
Great bunch of people, but poor management with constant cost cutting and redundancies. High people turnover doesn't help it either. Many old timers now left and so did the the experience and talent.

poor management
Technician (Current Employee) - Doncaster, South Yorkshire - 18 August 2023
used to be a great place to work but gets worse every year. very poorly run with no sense of direction from the upper management. always making redundancies due to the poor level of management but always tergeting the shop floor and not dealing with the real problem which is the management as a whole. very de moralising place to work where below office staff/management level you are not treat right, appreciated or valued. would not recommend working for this company
Pros
get paid
Cons
management, low morale, not appreciated, not valued

Lovely people to work with, but understaffed and under valued
Supply Chain Administrator (Current Employee) - Doncaster, South Yorkshire - 31 July 2023
Overall a good job, the friday finish is a big bonus. The people are really friendly and some management very flexible. Unfortunately a lot of areas are understaffed, and the staff that are there are often under valued.

People who work on shop floor are good
CNC Setter/Operator/Programmer (Current Employee) - Chard - 2 July 2023
The firm is shutting down on 22nd of December the management do not care about the people on the shop floor they are paying the people the lowest as possible and they held back on telling the workforce the reel reason as they are shutting the chard site to save jobs for a workforce that was working part-time and getting paid full pay would not touch the company with a barge poll
Pros
Nune
Cons
Nune

Impossible management Rushing workers to finish jobs Work having to be done more than once because of mistakes made through rushing Being chastised in front of other workers
Pros

Cons
Being pushed about from piller to post, never knowing what job you would be doing, expected to do jobs you have never done before.

Not a bad place
Warehouse Operative/FLT Driver (Former Employee) - Burton-On-Trent - 23 April 2023
Was as good place work. Happy & friendly all round, then change of ownership and management and it was redundancies, lack of work, personal touch gone. Managers and supervisors only do things to make them selves look good. I did enjoy working in the stores, fast and enough to keep you busy . Clean place to work with free tea and coffee. Good holiday entitlement and bank holidays off. I did enjoy it there but wouldn’t recommend now. Things do need to change.
Pros
Free tea & coffee, good holiday entitlement
Cons
Poor management and lack of work coming in.

The blokes are great, management useless
Mechanical Fitter (Former Employee) - Burton-On-Trent, Staffordshire - 25 January 2023
I worked here for 4 years at wabtec, and it was a slow decline really, managers and team leaders who don't know the job so can't really help you with anything, they just Bark orders at you and havnt got a clue.
Pros
The lads are great, hours are good
Cons
Pay is below average, get moved around alot

Dont know what they are doing
Engineer (Former Employee) - Barton under Needwood, Staffordshire - 20 October 2022
This company has gone downhill in my opinion, Managment pulling in different directions with no justification to what they are trying to achieve, When I left the company it was after 30 people before me .
Pros
Free Car Parking
Cons
Lack of direction, No pride in work

Uneven pay
Factory Worker (Current Employee) - Somerset - 21 February 2022
Pay between employees doing the same job is ridiculous. You can be on £3 less just because, there’s literally no reason why apart from management don’t care about you. Work like mad and receive no praise, make a single mistake and get a disciplinary. Work has completely dropped off, redundancy's all around then couple months later taking on agency workers and then firing them. Bonus £10 Christmas gift card between what 10-50k employees world wide on a £400m yearly profit?
Pros
Some Co-workers, Half day Fridays, Extra 2 days holiday every 5 years max 6days, Pension scheme is good I guess
Cons
Pay is bad unless your part of management, They don’t care about you, Either working super fast or no work at all, If you have an accident they will find a way to make it your own fault

Management ok. Salary ok.
Electrician (Former Employee) - Doncaster, South Yorkshire - 31 January 2022
Did my apprenticeship here, was good for the most part with that. Most manager/supervisors were helpful etc. Once out of my apprenticeship, this is where I found out that most managers haven't really got a clue and most got the job through another manager friend. Constant threat of redundancies, in the 5years I was there, there was 3 separate redundancy talks. On the whole though, I did genuinely enjoy my time here, and I made a lot of friends for life here
Pros
Good lads to work with, Relatively easy work
Cons
Pay isn't that good for a skilled trade

Ok place to work
Quality Engineer (Current Employee) - United Kingdom - 20 January 2022
Wabtec is an ok place to work. Managment could be better. Good job security but lack of progression. Can get other work piled on you for no extra benefits

Typical day was 7.30 till 4. management were friendly , Hardest part of job is motivation and trusting some of those people round you.
Store Assistant (Former Employee) - Stores - 7 January 2022
I enjoyed working there, but management and supervisors only do things to make selves look good. Big open to ideas unless it’s theirs. My supervisor stabbed me in back, broke into my computer and left offensive and degrading picture and message whilst I was of sick. Good job, clean but since take over work has dropped right off, redundancies all over . It pays the bills but wouldn’t recommend. Sounds like sour grapes since I left but all is true.
Pros
Pay not bad. 5 weeks plus bank holidays They are flexible
Cons
Watch your back. Lack of motivation Management and supervisors in it for their own agenda, very little back up I was called a good friend but still stabbed in back at first chance.

Badly run, the employees made the place and organised the jobs
Fabricator (Former Employee) - Kilmarnock - 6 August 2021
Due to a lack of background in the rail industry the management were lacking. The place was run by spreadsheets instead of railway know how. The managements lack of rail knowledge demoralised a skillful and experienced workforce. Promotion within the company depended who you were pals with, again demoralising the good tradesmen.
Pros
12-45pm stop on a Friday
Cons
Unknowledgeable top brass
