Good pay and good benefits

Indeed featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
the job paid really well but it was a little stressful at times. Training could’ve been better, also understaffed quite a lot of the time. All in all not a bad job though, the cafe could get really stressful.

Easy work not a good environment

Easy work and plus side no one notices if you take extra breaks and if they do nobody talks to you anyway. SomeNice people but the shift manager was a dolt and the boys below him were all virgin gamer boys who licked it up. Tried to change to day shift but they weren’t interested, priority to theyrefriends on shift swaps etc. Plus side you can eat any of the food so lunches always good. Work is repetitive and boring but you can use youre phone and headphones. Good pay because I was on evening shifts so part the hours were extra pay.

Inclusive and democratic workplace

The company itself is great to work for, and the benefits are felt more when working in one of the bigger branches, (Ive worked in a capital city branch and a small local branch) as there are more clubs and meetings and votes etc. Working in the Christchurch branch was a little frustrating at times as the management seemed quite scattered, and didn't all sing from the same hymn sheet.

Slave labour

Poor pay for the expectation. High stress and pressure depending on which department you work. Overbearing management. However sick pay is excellent. Fantastic team but the company itself is very poor and I wouldn’t recommend

Pros

Sick pay

Cons

Stressful and low paid

Average retail job.

Good job for students. Decent pay, not difficult job. Always paid on time and strictly follow working and food safety laws. However with usual issues like inflexible, unsocial hours, bullying from some management and often not given enough time to complete tasks. Overall decent enough but not without issues.

Great people terrible company

Company has zero appreciation for staff but staff are amazing , 8p above minimum wage for maximum work ,a lot lazy staff who don't care about job , and the hard workers get no appreciation or recognition , if ur there for long term life benefits are good like pension and leave but company has changed so much you will be lucky to see a year through.

Pros

Co workers

Cons

The company

Great First Job

Flexible hours that suited a sixth form schedule, good staff and supportive environment with lots of overtime available for those who wanted it, especially during seasonally busy periods

Workplace

The Workplace itself is easy to get to as well and the team of partners are extremely friendly and easy to get on with and the work its self is straight forward and the pay is decent for what it is

So under staffed

Saxmundham Waitrose…. People are constantly leaving .. they are managing on a skeleton crew but expect you to carry out tasks with less time.No praise and a very negative feeling with in the shop. The people I worked with are lovely that was the only nice thing I can say.it’s like a sinking ship.Good luck coz you’ll need it!!!!

Pros

Free food on wastage if you work till 8.00pm

Cons

You have too much responsibility for basic wage

good pay lots of work

pay is good 11.70 (33% extra between 10pm and 6am). time goes fast always overtime. place is a little unorganised so it makes it harder for you to do your work as your correcting other inexperience staff mistakes.

Okay to work for

What you would expect from a supermarket job, fairly standard. Could get boring on some shifts where you can go a whole shift without really speaking to anyone but I suppose the pay is good. Some negatives are the holidays aren't too flexible. But overall decent place.

Not the best place to work but ok

Most of The benefits are good but the pay is quite far below the competitive rates and you are expected to do a lot for the little money. Progression is near to impossible

Good Environment

Really great place to work as a student: most shifts are structured to be around educational committments, study leave provided during exams and student transfers during university. Great benefits. No scope for progression long term in most cases.

Not great pay.

Waitrose is suffering difficulties at the moment and unfortunately staff seem to be expected to take on ever more tasks in the same time frame, whilst having some of their benefits such as subsidised canteen eroded by recent price increases. The hourly pay rate is lower than equivalent retailers/Wetherspoons etc. Some managers don't understand how to get the best from staff and actually contribute to low morale. Some are very good though.

One of the better delivery jobs

Relax management, delivery drivers payed more than store staff, plenty of overtime and flexibility offered, never had an issue taking holidays or getting time off

Good working environment

Good team, fair workload. Management were good and approachable. Decent pay but not for everyone if you can't manage night shifts. Breaks were on time.

Good Vans and Good Discount

It’s a good job out on deliveries although you may have to work in store occasionally. The Vans are well kept, air conditioned and easy to drive. The shifts can vary a lot during holidays. The discount that you get at Waitrose and John Lewis is useful. Overall it’s a good experience.

Fun place to work

Good job security and can develop yourself with skills but not great progression or increase of pay. Unfortunately that’s retail and how the buisness model is saving money.

Great colleagues but not rewarding

I've worked at Waitrose for 13 months. The colleagues are fantastic but with the pressure that the business is under it's just far too much workload. All this for underwhelming pay and staff benefits.

Used to be amazing

When I first started was a great work place , average pay and decent managers .Mainly student employees and usually overtime available as usually understaffed.
