Class 2 HGV Driver in Banbury
on 30 August 2023
Not a terrible job
I worked there for 9 months and it served its purpose, I was able to finish early enough to pick my kids up from school, and it was my first HGV driving job so got some experience on my CV. The job itself isn’t too bad, but you don’t get any training, so your first few weeks you’re learning on the job, which can be stressful, but once you’re settled the job is as easy as you make it.

Applied for driver, turned down. Was asked what i felt was more important 1) To be perfect and late or 2) Good and on time. Answered good and on time - seemed to be wrong answer. Make up answer 3) Perfect and on time. Was told 25 days holiday a year all in. I asked for confirmation that that included bank holidays and was told it was. I answered "Thats low, usually 20 days plus 8 bank holidays". Website states it's 25 days plus 8 bank holidays. Interview seems point based, answer too many questions the wrong way and you'll fail.
