HGV Class 1 Driver (Former Employee) - Wednesbury, West Midlands - 5 June 2023
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedThe job is run by the warehouse staff as in they tell you where you’re going and then you have to wait for your truck to get loaded . Meanwhile they have you moving trailers of bays to get your trailer onto a bay then you have to load your own truck and by now you’ve been at the depot 2hrs plus .When your loaded your still expected to do a 11 hour run so the work life balance they talk about disappears. It could be a really good job if it was run better .
Pros
Cheap bread
Cons
Long hours for same pay

It’s been ok so far…
Class 2 Driver (Current Employee) - Eastwood - 23 May 2023
Started in February and so far it’s been ok, it’s hard work picking orders on the back of the lorry and trying to keep to the timings on the EPOD. It’s clear some routes are better than others load and go routes your chasing your backside the whole time because you can’t start to pick orders until you’ve done your first 2-3 drops. Routes where you pick in the warehouse have the benefit of picking their orders before they go and they most likely don’t have a 1 hour + drive to their first drop. Work life balance is a tough one on one hand your finished for mid day but on the other when it comes to 6pm your tired and ideally you want to be asleep before 830pm latest as you start work at 4am. There’s so much training involved, as a new driver finishing at 2pm the last thing you want is to be told you need to do some training after you’ve unloaded and in my opinion it’s wrong 2pm is 10 hours and being up since 3am you are tired and need to rest not have a tablet plonked in front of you and see you’ve got 3 training sections complete.
Pros
Early finishes Management have been good
Cons
Not many weekends off 2 in 7 weeks

Really unorganised management think they know everything,,, no one asks the drivers if they have any struggles completely knackered from picking bread before you even leave to do first drop

Ok pay, Early finishes, Work alot of weekends, Always tired
Class 2 Driver (Current Employee) - Bolton, Greater Manchester - 31 March 2023
Start at 4am and finish before 12 on most days. The hardest part of the job is getting up at 3.30am and making the orders up either in the warehouse before leaving or on the back of the van in between deliveries. It’s hard to get time off in school holiday's. Management leave you to it as long as you don’t make mistakes with driver cards, or have accidents. Route plans can change from one day to the next for spare drivers. Best part of the job is job and finish. Pay is ok but work most weekends. Having a young family you miss out on a lot with the the kids from being tired all the time or going to bed early.

Okay salary, but awful management.
Sales Delivery Driver (Former Employee) - Bicester - 1 January 2020
Salary was okay, but when you consider the SHEER amount of work expected of you, horrible shift patterns, and very early starts, i dont think it was worth it. Management are self serving, and couldnt manage their way out of a paper bag. My particular depot cannot maintain a full team due to the arrogance of management. Drivers are also not treated fairly. Would i recommend? No.
Pros
Great colleagues, hard working and fast paced environment.
Cons
Horrible hours, horrible work schedule, awful management, inequality.

Well run family business
Various roles encompassing sales (Former Employee) - Burnley - 30 January 2018
Warburtons is a well established, well run family bakery. My 15 years at the company started as despatch operative which involved the preparation and loading of the product. Several years on I was promoted into sales where I was responsible delivering the product to a variety of store outlets ranging from corner shops to multi million pound businesses.
Customer care and presentation was essential as you were the face of the company and how you conducted yourself from your driving to how you engaged with people and the customers reflected on the company.
The management was very supportive and promotion was offered to promising individuals if they were interested.
The hardest part was the early starts.
The most enjoyable part was getting out and about visiting new areas and meeting new people.
Pros
Good working enviroment
Cons
Early starts
