Career Stagnation.

Indeed featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
Co-workers are very friendly, the work load is highly repetitive, and there is little opportunity for progression. Management has little interest in developing you as a person or as an employee. The salary is acceptable for the job, training is very much on the fly with little structure.Overall it is very much a company in which you are consigned to the one role. You will often find many who choose to leave have similar issues with the company.

Pros

Friendly staff.

Cons

No Progression Opportunities.

Avoid

A truly awful place to work. Underhanded, disrespectful, poorly managed. And the way they treat you, despite working hard and doing all that is asked of you, is beyond despicable.

Wouldn’t recommend, selfish business don’t care about their staff

Wouldn’t recommend, they don’t care about their staff. 2 year contract with dismissal at any time without any procedure or reasoning. Terrible work life balance, far too demanding to warrant the salary.

Worse place to work

Unfair place, production manager have to like your face otherwise you won't be a successful at all. Also they listen to it everyone opinions about you instead to see themselves. Management working for friendship instead to put all efforts for production and business. New staff coming as and leaving after little while.

Brilliant company to work for however pay rate is very bad

Westland are a great company to work for, everyone is friendly and there are opportunities for job progression. However the pay is poor, considerably less than what other companies pay employees for the same job role.

Fast paced, Secure Business.

Job security, career progressing and training opportunities.Minimal requirement to work extra hours, resulting in a good work life balance. Annual Salary reviews and enhanced yearly holiday entitlement.Company events throughout the year.ConsDue to the nature of the business, peak season (March - June) can be demanding and it can difficult to take holidays at this time of year.

Over Worked and Under Paid

Despite getting on well with management there are no opportunities for progression, salary increases are minimal and almost have to be begged for. Management use a divide and conquer strategy among departments and further among teams. HR isn't much use either. Most people within the company are decent and hard working but you won't get what you deserve with Westland. Working to cut off - epically during "peak" means 10-12 hour long days and as soon as that's finished you're expected to do other people's work as well. Communication is non existent from the top down.

Pros

Team in Granville are good people.

Cons

Peak Hours with no extra pay

Stressful, no job security, no real breaks

I don't mind hard work but this was ridiculously stressful & painful. I felt sick after my first week with the amount of work I did. Bad environment.

Pros

None

Cons

Poor pay, long hours, 40 minutes break for a 10 hour shift, bad management, extremely mind numbing

Absolutely Shocking

The company has zero respect for employees, which is proven by the constant advertising for workers.Health & safety is non existent. The rate of pay is shocking, and along with the way they treat you,is the main reason so many leave after a couple of weeks.£9:30 for flt drivers£11 for loading shovel drivers (was £10.50)Managers & team leaders really need training in how to treat people,as they lack even the minimal skills in this. With better skills in these areas,it could be a good place to work.

Pros

Paid on time

Cons

Poor management.Rate of pay is very poor for the work you do.Health & safety is very poor

Possibly the worst place to work.

Untrained managers who are power headed but have NO PEOPLE SKILLS Dangerous no health and Safety people have lost lives in this job and they don’t care they will get the next person to finish the dangerous job.Never payed correctly always lied to they manipulate young people. You do not look after ur staff you have no company values. With no people who you are loosing fast you are nothing. Do not work here if you have sense

Pros

Cons

Lunatic asylum.

You don't get paid on time and when you do its usually incorrect, the work is back breaking, the place is extremely dusty and the health and safety is horrendous. Literally 90% of the operatives are actively seeking a new job. The managers all seem OK, the lads are fantastic.

Pros

It doesn't snow.

Cons

Quite a few

A lot of good people as well as a lot of poor management.

Great group of people to be around but management seem to have no idea what to do and put no time into the progression of employees. Good stepping stone but not somewhere to try and make a career.

Pros

Good People

Cons

Poor leadership

westland

I don't want to writ anything bad as the job wasn't really for me but could be for someone else we all have different taste in jobs only thing will say the long hours in the spring summer time really long hours can go up to 12hrs a day Monday to Friday and don't get paid overtime get all back as extra holidays me personally would like to get paid overtime then extra holidays which have to be taken in the quiet season that was only down side to the job. will say this the line manager and the production team will always willing to help you when you needed it no matter what they were doing

Big company

My previous company I worked was bought by Westland. So I had opportunity to work here just for a couple month. And I have been redundant unfortunately.

Good Learning outcomes

good experience all round, gained a good understanding of the industry. Good manufacturing practices, understanding high level audits etc. Hardest part of the Job is changing the culture of the business.
