"Treat your people like they make a difference and they will."
Depot Manager (Former Employee) - Chepstow, Monmouthshire - 9 September 2023
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedWhirlpool UK Appliances Ltd used to be more than just a workplace; it was a place where belonging thrived alongside corporate support. During my nearly eight-year tenure with the company, I had the privilege of encountering wonderful individuals and accomplishing remarkable feats with the dedicated Chepstow Team. The experience was truly fulfilling. Regrettably, the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic brought about a series of challenges, compounded by inadequate leadership during this critical period. Consequently, the company underwent a transformation into just another routine logistics entity. This unfortunate shift led to the departure of numerous talented individuals. The organisation's hesitance to readily adopt innovation and unconventional approaches has burdened its employees, compelling them to exert more effort than necessary to attain objectives. As the saying goes, "Treat your people like they make a difference and they will." The compensation for Depot Managers varies across the network, generally falling slightly below the industry standard in most regions due to the mandated 45-hour workweek, in contrast to the more common 37.5-hour week offered by many other companies. The inclusion of a company car is a positive aspect, with a respectable array of vehicles to choose from. The holiday package is generous, affording Depot Managers a total of 38 days off, including 5 days rewarded for impeccable attendance. However, in 2021, the company seemed to lose its grip on its once-prominent culture and values. It is evident that a substantial overhaul across the network -
Pros
Met some great people, achieved some great things
Cons
The organisation's hesitance to readily adopt innovation and unconventional approaches

Poor place to work
Warehouse Operative (Former Employee) - Raunds - 31 July 2023
Seems an ok place to work in the first instance, but as you work more and harder they care less and less about you and demand even more. Don’t make mistakes as they will throw the book at you. But if you’ve worked there for 10 years you can get away with anything, even if that’s endangering other staff.
Pros
Reasonable pay
Cons
Poor management

overworked, underpaid, impossible times
7.5 tonne driver (Former Employee) - Wellingborough - 23 May 2023
Class 2/7.5t multidrop home delivery and installation, Interview is unbelievably easy, because theyre desperate for drivers as nobody wants to do the job. Theyll promise you all kinds of bonuses to boost the low pay, which youll never see because they all rely on customer satisfcation surveys, and lets be honest how often do you get asked to do a feedback survey email and just delete it? Exactly. No answer on the feedback is the same as 0 stars feedback, which means no bonuses. Youll spend the first 2-3 weeks as a 2 person crew, then youll be sent out by yourself and given impossible targets. Youll be given approx 20-30 drops a day, and given 15 minutes to park, meet customer, check paperwork, find right appliance, carry it to customers room of choice, unpack it, install it and remove old appliance. Route planners will tell you its a solo crew suitable route, and youre expected to carry a washing machine, oven, fridge etc up 5 steps by yourself, without damaging it or the customers property. Every single day was a 12+ hour day, because it was impossible to complete your drops in the allotted time. Worst job Ive ever had.
Pros
nothing
Cons
long hours, heavy dirty work, impossible time constraints

Very challenging role
Customer Service Advisor (Former Employee) - Peterborough, Cambridgeshire - 11 March 2023
Very difficult role which can heavily impact your mental health. Had been in previous customer call centre roles and never imagined the lack of customer service policies would play such a detrimental part of this job. If a customer is upset you are not allowed by any means necessary to raise issues to management which regularly infuriates the customer more. Complaints are only logged in notes on accounts and you can give a small voucher compensation which insults customers. Even if abused by customers, you cannot end calls for your own well being. Calls are regularly listened into and reviewed, then additionally training given but not relevant to how to handle those situations they've listened to.
Pros
Desk space
Cons
No manager support, get shouted at by customers all day

Field Service Engineer (Current Employee) - Newcastle upon Tyne - 29 December 2022
Train away from home which is good training, learn everything you need to know in 4 weeks, good pay. Managers and staff are supportive throughout. Best thing is the training classes, worst thing is the on road support

Slave labour.
Trainee Service Engineer (Former Employee) - Warrington - 4 December 2022
Considering it's a skilled job, you get paid really poorly! It's all zbout managers percentages and if they don't hit there targets the engineers get the flack fir it. No help offered when asking for it, you either get told someone is to busy or you get a response a day or two later when it's to late. 8 hour shifts which sound great but you will be doing over that but don't get paid for it as you allocated 33 minutes per job and if your over that it's your problem. You'll be promised top training which you DON'T get. Its a shame really. If everyone wasn't out for themselves and more help and training was given then possibly this could be a good job but other than that avoid at all costs if you want a stress free job.
Pros
Honestly! No pros really or I wouldn't of left.
Cons
Pay, training, managers, customers.

workplace attitude
Sales Support (Former Employee) - Peterborough - 17 November 2022
If your face fits you will be ok and left alone otherwise they will be on you like a rash and have you in meetings to 'help improve your performance' if you don't then they will have you in their sights and will have warnings and monitored to death til they make you feel drained and not made to feel worthy and will isolate you .

Great development, very supportive
Field Service Engineer (Former Employee) - Warwick - 12 November 2022
Worked here for about 2-3 years. First field engineer job I had. Manager was excellent and very supportive. Other engineers were also friendly and helpful. Made some good friends. Job is quite stressful and physically demanding. Tight spaces can be a problem. Customers often ask for a new appliance which puts you straight on the back-foot. Some sales expected but honestly not much. You will get sent out to some very old machines. Salary is as expected for a starter engineer, but any increases are marginal.

If your face fits you'll go far.
SUPPLY CHAIN ADMINISTRATOR (Former Employee) - Peterborough - 8 June 2022
If you are looking for a stable job and company to work for and want a job for life this is the place to work. (Don't get me wrong they have made redundancies in the past but it wasn't a huge cull on any of the occasions. It could be anyone at any moment but most of the time it was fine). There are a lot of different departments to choose from and the staff were all very pleasant, but the pay is below average leaving the staff demoralised and always fighting for better pay and then losing the fight because the union doesn't have enough members to make the company pay staff properly.

Hard work.
7.5 tonne driver (Former Employee) - Raunds - 21 April 2022
Good job if your face fits. Can be stressful/enjoyable.Go to Manchester for a week's training. You can go two or one man. One man pays better but is harder. You do learn a lot of DIY skills.Vehicles are generally in good condition.Management generally don't talk to you much unless they have to.
Pros
Good pay.Good camaraderie amongst the drivers.
Cons
Long hours.Stressful.
