I mean, working here you can tell instantly that there is a favouritism system, the more liked you are, the more hours you get. Depending on the day you could have happy customers, but at soon as one dish is out late its nasty to work there and suddenly everything is your fault. Maybe this is just my resturant but after this i dont wanna work in hospitality again. At least you get to keep the tips.
Sometimes a friendly environment, good tips.. you dont have to share tips.
I worked for premier Inn for 12 years and in the restaurant too I loved my job and the management were fab I only left because I needed more pay I was head housekeeper and supervisor in the restaurant I did payroll for my team ordered laundry and took orders and payments for meals etc. I also dealt with customer complaints
Flexiblility with jours
Pay not great
I really enjoyed my time working for beefeater in Exeter. Amazing team full of team work, friendly. I did waitressing and bar work which I settled in to perfectly and the team were always there if I needed help. Definitely recommend
When applying for the role it didn’t state whether it was permanent or temporary. It wasn’t until the training we were advised who was going to be permanent or temporary. Only two of us were temporary and my god there is no leeway.Straight after training you were given a grace period of about 1 week, after that you’re expected to respond to 30 complaints minimum in your shift. You also had to have a high accuracy score. Although my accuracy was consistently perfect I was constantly pushed to complete more complaints.I was dismissed due to taking took in time off whilst experiencing a family loss and was advised by my manager I need to decide if I wanted to leave for the day or risk being in trouble. There was no mental support at all. So if you’re ever going through a hard time I WOULD not expect the management to have any remorse whatsoever I had someone steal something out my personal locker which understandably wasn’t locked so was my fault but no investigation was taken place.
Pay was ok
Long hours, management
They promise you fair and reasonable pay but give you grief practically every day and night not always from the public ,don't support your side, and don't understand why you have an opinion, you work for us attitude ,not a good company to work for ,lots of opportunities to go nowhere in the job unless you really suck up to them and be there friend when it suits them , management blow hot and cold every day and night , don't understand why you exist
Free breakfast, free uniform (dressed in black)
Long hours, No Respect for you, No smokers
I personally had a really good experience working for Whitbread. It was professional, no typical uncomfortable office environment. I worked with a genuinely lovely team and management did not micro manage. Management we’re supportive and definitely looked after me whilst I worked here. I have left whitbread with nothing but god things to say about the company.
Established company, trustworthy and reliable
Don’t get paid for overtime unfortunately. For example, If you’re on a call when your shift has ended you only get paid upto your shift time!
Great for students who wanna do part time. There are some days the restaurant closes early and that’s when they send you home early because obviously there are no guests. They don’t pay you if you leave early.
Flexible work times
No fixed hours
The manager I am unfortunate enough to still work for Is a terrible example of a micro manager, she also seems to take enjoyment from public ally degrading staff through aggressive language and swearing regularly, to the point it has even been mentioned on trip advisor reviews Luckily she is supposed to be leaving to go to another site soon
Decent wage for the work.
Micromanagement. Poor HR.
It`s fast paced, your brain is on all the time so you can almost anticipate what needs doing. Also always make sure the client is sure of what they asked for because, even if they change their mind and want a different coffee, they`ll get it for free...after blaming you for getting it wrong. But it`s great to introduce new products to the clients, help them when they struggle with the kids and toys, and making sure they leave satisfied and in a better mood than when they came in. My managers were kind and approachable, praised my work and encouraged me to achieve more, my colleagues were kind and helpful when I would forget something, like how to make a fancy coffee with syrup, marshmallows, chocolate chips but not forgetting the skinny milk. Or Remember the names of the numerous cakes. Great for a youngster but I haven`t been one for a long time. I do regret not asking to follow a different path at the company, but I was at a very busy coffee branch, I never stopped and got a lovely leaving present at the end of the training, on top of the job offer, but my joints were painful when I finally sat in the car. But loved it. And the people I worked with. And the inicial introduction training was given by a lovely lady that never lost her temper not even when some trainees misbehaved.
It was really nice working with all the staff really got along with everyone and the customer were really nice good hours always enough notice to be asked to work would phone me and I would go in all the time because I loved the atmosphere with all of them they were little family and my older sister worked there too is was a lovely team to work with
Management are too stretched, and everything is the most important thing. No structure. Too much admin leaves guests waiting and given poor service. No food on shift either which I know is not a given but it is a good perk to offer. Generally just felt undervalued.
Stressful, Lack of leadership, Unorganised
I worked at brewers fayre for a few months, management was very bad and would only have one manger for weeks at a time, unorganised and threatened too fire staff over mental health and I got fired because of my mental health. Security is terrible, every other week the police would have too be called because of an incident that would get out of hand, half the staff were incredibly rude and just all around not a nice place too work
