Poor management
Supervisor/Team Leader (Former Employee) - Petersfield, Hampshire - 2 October 2023
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedMiddle management think they are running the factory, egos and unprofessionalism ruins what could potentially be a good place to work. The longer term staff get treated poorly and the lack of opportunities for growth is apparent.

Productive and fun workplace.
Compounding Operative (Current Employee) - Petersfield - 15 May 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? The environment is excellent. Training provided, good payment and several shifts. Transport provided with low cost. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? I can not say any stressful part in there. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Every sector have the orientation for the day work.

Not a pleasant place to work.
Assembly Worker (Former Employee) - Petersfield - 26 April 2023
The company is becoming very greedy on its staff. No respect or encouragement to progress. Shouted out like kids if a human error is made. Morale is so low in the factory. Even people who have been there years have had enough. It used to be a good factory to work for, not anymore. Also it’s about quantity not quality. You can be the worst worker, not checking codes or quality but as long as you turn up every day, your job is safe.
Pros
2 goody boxes a year, after 6 month’s employment
Cons
Shouted at like kids from management & other staff members who think they are the big bosses, back stabbing

If you want an easy paycheck then by all means work here but if you hope to join a company that cares for you and your wellbeing whilst offering progression then do not work here.
Pros
On site canteen
Cons
Management don’t listen. Toxic environment.

A Real Low Point
Warehouse and production line assembly. (Former Employee) - Petersfield - 25 March 2021
Fast paced , Stressful , cliques....the management ( team leaders , supervisors ) do not speak to any of the workers with even the slightest bit of respect...which leaves most people feeling dehumanized ( after witnessing this on the factory floor numerous times, to the point where some female members of staff were reduced to tears) , I was relieved on my last day there ...that we were told our contract was Ending that morning as all outstanding orders were completed. All in All.... A Real Low Point They say experience teaches and it taught me to never work at or take these kinds of jobs ever again.
Pros
None Really
Cons
All of the above

Great place to work and many opportunities to climb different branch
Machinist (Former Employee) - Petersfield, Hampshire - 3 April 2020
The Working environment can be very fast pace someday, and some other time it can be slow. This is all depending on the job you will be running. You you will have many support from both service op, your crews and management to speak to, if there's any problem.
There are always opportunity to grow within the company, such as going into serviced op, line leader, then zone manager and so on, so on. There's also the Mechanical side to it, Machinist and Technical operator to being an engineer.
All and all this is a great place to work,if you wish to join. The only downside to this job can be the colleague you work with. There are some better than other, but you will meet some that are hard to work with and this can be quite stressful at the end of the day, but then again there's your zone manager and other to speak to, if problems persist.

The worst on all ends
Assembly Operative (Former Employee) - Petersfield, Hampshire - 23 March 2020
This place is a corporate disaster. Employees are rude, love to gossip, talk about you behind your back, most are on drugs or do drugs on site. Favoritism on all ends, they pick and choose favorites and these so called favorites get to pick the jobs they like and get away with mischief no matter how bad. Management and those pathetic line leaders don't have the adequate knowledge or skills to properly discipline or handle employee concerns and behaviors. Line leaders especially from lines 16 and 18 tend to go off the line to gossip and chit chat not really demonstrating any team leadership. Oftentimes you can find them in the locker rooms having a chat while their lines are running! Employees are so intertwined with each other and have relationships with each other. You are forced to keep up with numbers and work you like literal robots. You must fend on your own and are called out when you can't keep up. There is no discipline and respect in this place, everyone seems to be two faced. They are sexist and discriminate against you based on your hat colour.
Pros
cheap drinks and food, bus shuttle
Cons
long hours, time management, power trip, accountability

Wouldn’t recommend
Warehouse Operative (Former Employee) - Petersfield, Hampshire - 21 March 2020
Managers are rude and very cliquey. The environment is quite depressing and staff are not allowed to talk during their shift. It’s a fast paced environment and the job itself is not complicated.

Fast paced environment.
Production Operative (Former Employee) - Petersfield - 19 February 2020
Time management is key as there is zero tolerance to lateness. Some of the work can be challenging and physically demanding. Whereas some of the jobs are relatively easy. There is always rotation of job so you do not get bored. Fellow colleagues are easy to get on with.
Pros
Cheap lunches
Cons
Unsociable hours

Chemical Process Operator (Former Employee) - Petersfield, Hampshire - 12 October 2019
Working at Whitman’s can be quite the challenge day in day out but can be very beneficial with good pay rate, goody bags, bonus and 22 holidays including bank holidays

Not for the feint hearted
Assembly Operator (Former Employee) - Petersfield, Hampshire - 4 July 2019
Management corrupt
If you are a brown nose you will go far
If you cant stand any injustice its not for you
If your face fits you will be offered everything if not you will be treated like dirt
The job its self is fairly easy but boring and repetative. Good money for the work but not worth it for the atmosphere
Pros
Paid lunch break, Excellent discounts
Cons
So much bitchiness and cliques

Major health and safety issues!
Production Line Operator (Current Employee) - Petersfield - 7 May 2019
First of all getting permanent is extremely difficult, there are people working through agencies and applying for a permanent position every year for 10+ years.
The agency is useless, messed up wages 3 weeks in a row, underpaid most of the staff, you can't get in touch with them as they're busy all the time.
They train you on good manual handling and they say it's your responsibility to lift properly but if you do take the time that's required to lift a shipper properly you'll end up having a massive pile up and you'll mess up the work flow ( and get everyone on the line angry )
Line leaders are stressed and they'll run the line at faster speed to make their numbers up, they don't care if you're a new starter and you can't keep up from first week.
You're pressed to do bad manual handling all the time because you have to be extremely fast.
You're not human, you're just a robot doing robotic repetitive work every day.
Depending on the line you're on, you can work with fun and friendly people, or extremely rude and privileged people.
Also, they mention "career progression" haha, don't even need to talk about that.
Pros
2 or 3 friendly people to work with
Cons
Too many.

Full-Time Warehouse Operative (Former Employee) - Petersfield - 14 November 2018
The salary and hours were good. The most enjoyable part of the job was the employees. Management were not helpful and stood talkin whilst workers got the job done.

Ok
Assembly Operator (Former Employee) - Petersfield - 11 June 2018
The company is a highly productive factory. Most days were enjoyable but the lack of people skills from management was a big downfall. Because of this reason a lot of staff lost motivation and it became less enjoyable to work there.
