IT’S SOMEWHERE YOU CAN BE YOU We want WHSmith to be a place where people really love to work. Not to mention somewhere we can all feel safe, and live healthy lives. So, we’re working hard to be an inclusive employer with just the right kind of support network, and a diverse workforce where everyone feels like they belong. IT’S SOMEWHERE YOU CAN LEARN AND GROW Here, you’ll have the support of a great team behind you. We’re big on learning and development, so no matter which part of our business you join, or at what level, we offer the kind of training that can help you grow as fast as we are. Which is pretty quick! IT’S SOMEWHERE THAT REALLY LISTENS We’re proud of our culture of innovation, and it’s why we’re able to deliver outstanding results year in year out. But we’re even more proud of what it means to our people. So if you’ve got a new idea to bring to the table that will make us better, we’re here to listen.     IT’S SOMEWHERE THAT RESPECTS EVERYONE Our customers want to do the right thing, too. In fact, they want to know that the products they buy from us are produced by workers who are treated well, without harming the environment. That’s why we only work with suppliers who value dignity and respect. And who are just as committed as we are to the wellbeing of everyone in our supply chain.

Our Values

We’re not just on a journey - we also like to think that we’re on a pretty important mission, too. Our strategy is to continue leading the way as a global retailer in travel essentials for the world’s travelling customer, and as Britain’s most popular high street stationer, bookseller and newsagent. It’s our purpose that really makes us stand out as a retailer: to make every one of life’s journeys better. OUR GOALS  We’re the kind of business that always thinks a little bit bigger. Which means our future looks something like this: even more prime locations and brand new and exciting store concepts for all kinds of customers in all kinds of places around the world.  To make that happen, we’re building our presence online and in person, partnering with brands like the Post Office, M&S and Costa Coffee, offering more services like Click and Collect, and creating even more ways to help our customers find whatever they need.   Put simply, we’re channelling our energy and excitement into going even further, even faster, when it comes to making every journey better.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

DIVERSITY, EQUITY AND INCLUSION BANNER

It's all about our people!

IT IS WELL KNOWN THAT DIVERSE TEAMS PERFORM BETTER AND WE WANT OUR ORGANISATION TO REFLECT THE DIVERSITY OF OUR CUSTOMER BASE AND THE MARKETS WE OPERATE IN. All of our employees should feel that they can be themselves at work, and we encourage them to bring their individual views and experiences to their role and the broader organisation. We recognise the importance of equity in all that we do, as well as promoting a culture of inclusion through our policies, procedures and working practices. Once a year we carry out a global engagement survey and have regular colleague forums who help make ideas a reality. We also do regular pulse check-ins to make sure we are continually moving forward. Whether it’s through our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee and employee networks, our commitment to the communities we work with, or our external partnerships with organisations such as the Business Disability Forum and EveryWoman, we will continue to support and celebrate with our employees so that our business continues to grow in the right way.
