Great place to work

Indeed featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
Friendly colleagues, genuinely nice people to work with. I’ve worked in a different LA and it was quite clicky and not a nice atmosphere. Ive never known any of that at Worcester.

My manager and team were fantastic

The staff I directly work with were amazing, passionate, dedicated, supportive and driven to help disadvantaged people in the community. The endless threat of restructure and post redundancies was cruel and not managed at all well and went on for literally 'years'. That's the only reason I was glad to leave and go to an organisation that did not make me feel like a disposable number.

Pros

Flexible autonomous work with great like minded staff and an inclusive team.

Cons

Threat to position, poor communication and poorly managed structure which creative significant anxiety.

great place to work

Learned my foundations of social worker and ongoing practice here. Good team ethic and good support from the managers. Good levels of supervision took place.

Cons

Safeguarding social worker

Good place to work overall although this can be dependent on management of whom there can be a very high turnover. Some of these are excellent; others not so much. Council will restructure fairly regularly dependent on Ofsted and this is not always a good thing as it can create uncertainty and high staff turnover. Work life balance is good as you are able to work from home at times. It did feel as if more could be done to retain social workers rather than keep employing more.

Pros

Flexible working

Cons

High staff turnover and variable management experience

Local authority in a lovely setting

I have worked for WCC for 7 years in a few teams and have found that there can be quite a bit of bureaucracy, although decision making processes are being streamlined and made easier for people trying to work within the system. Worcestershire is a lovely area to work in compared other more urban cities. County Hall has lovely grounds and the fab cafe at the Countryside Centre.
