Our Group

It all began with a bag of books, rescued by book loving entrepreneurs from a charity shop bin destined for landfill. Our founders recognised an opportunity to save books from waste by reselling and rehoming surplus stock that charity shops are unable to sell.

In 2008, World of Books was founded with an ethos to do good, to help charities and to make a positive impact. Since then, we have grown from a start-up into a leading global seller of quality used books and pioneers in re-use and recycling. Our inventory has grown to over 6 million in stock - we sell a book somewhere in the world every two seconds and recycling about 80 million books each year, equivalent to around half a million trees. We achieve this through three direct-to-consumer e-commerce businesses, supported by our own technology.

World of Books

Is the UK’s largest seller of used books online; selling to over 190 countries through our own website, marketplaces and wholesale partners. World of Books inventory is in excess of 6 million books, purchased from UK charities in return for payment and saving their waste disposal costs. For those books we cannot sell, we ensure they are recycled and turned into products such as newspaper, cardboard packaging and tissue products.

Ziffit

Established in 2013, to buy unwanted books, CD’s DVD’s, Blu-ray and console games directly from consumers via its market leading app. The smart technology enables consumers to use their mobile device to scan a product bar code or to simply tap in an ISBN code from a book for an instant valuation. Ziffit has also been developed to power instore ‘buyback’ (trade-in for credit) partnership programs in new book shops; further closing the loop on new book purchase, use and reuse. Ziffit sells all its books, CDs, DVDs and games via World of Books own website or partner websites such as Amazon and eBay.

Shopiago is an online sales software product that is utilised by charities to generate additional revenue for good causes and enable more goods to be reused.
