High pressured and no respect for work/life balance
This is a really stressful, demanding company. The usual time in a sales role is 2 years as so many people simply burn out after that. The hours are long, but the pay, company car, private health care benefits go a little way towards compensating for the role.Think really carefully about if you are happy to walk away from your normal life and step into a world where you are expected to have your blood run YELLow !!Be prepared to travel and expect 12 hour days to be the norm. The people you work with in the main are lovely as they close ranks and protect each other from higher management.. if you are lucky you will get a good manager who will shield you from the flack. This is a fast moving company so be prepared to be adaptableI have to say, overall I really enjoyed my year's with Yell, but it was tough.
Pros
Salary, company car, health care
Cons
Long, long hours.

Once was amazing - then turned into a "does your face fit" culture
I did in total 25 years at Yell. It was once one of the most inspiring, motivating companies and the management team were well respected and gave a dam about their people and their customers. However when they accepted that they were no longer a monopoly with a yellow book, but a small fish in a digital world things began to change. Constant restructures, new products and mass change took it toll and a lot of the committed dedicated employees left and made way to newer recruits. I left two years ago and I have never looked back. Worklife balance is non existence, their new quote is "more than a job" it should be "this is your life" and as for the click with management. It is no surprise that the progression up the management scale is the faces of the regular social gatherings. It was a familiar thing for managers to appear late in after a night on the tiles and brag of the amount they had drunk. The money keeps you there for a long time, but its bad for your health and your family.

Cons
No Life Balance, Too Clicky.

Dire company
Terrible, terrible company, acceptable leads when you're new to make you stay thinking you will keep on earning bonus, after 4 months you are given the worst leads, hardly anyone earning bonus for months and months on end so really good people leave who have always been successful elsewhere, constant churn of people leaving not long after joining. Constant pressure to make your next call, though hardly anyone answers the calls. Management calibre is shockingly poor, cowboys, cult like male dominated, not professional manager's in the least, fine if your face fits. Script for customers changes almost every day sometimes twice a day, can't keep up with it, no support, a 'You will do it' culture, aka bullying and discriminative. HR useless. Products are dire, all red tape and most employees not in the least bit customer centric, as demonstrated on trustpilot. Basic salary is rubbish for the job, can't afford basic living.
