Featured review

The management are promoting of handwork but are flexible as well. A friendly and helpful culture seems to be obvious in the team which echos when dealing with customers. The customers can be challenging of your knowledge which is always good as there is always something new to learn.

Pros

Friendly colleagues and flexible time working

Cons

Remote working has lost some of the contact with colleagues

Nice Place to Work / Good Work Life Balance

Worked here for 2 years. WFH and flexibility is great for work life balance, most people are approachable. Pay isn't amazing but expected seen as it is not a private company. Would recommend company to a friend.

No complaints. Decent company to work for. Plenty of training when required. Decent pension and holiday entitlement and encourage flexible working. I would say they look after you.

Great Culture, Team focused, Empowered and Respected

After the last few years working for small companies in the Building trades, felt a bit down and was used to be treat badly (but like an old rescue dog) YH saved me, every day is joy, lots of variety, different situations (even jumping back on the Tools occassionly to help out), get a real kick from solving problems and making Tenants living conditions better.A great , warm friendly team, made me feel welcome from day one, feel like I've been here years ( and its only 3 months) everyone mucks in. Love it.

Great place to work with supportive colleagues.

Fast paced company with a flexible view on your place of work. Very supportive colleagues and transparent management that keep you in the loop with new developments.

Productive and rewarding workplace

A typical day working for Yorkshire Housing is both thought provoking and rewarding, calling upon already established skills and providing the opportunity for evolving at the same time. Management are very supportive and regular teams calls means any issues can hopefully be ironed out straight away.

Awful HR awful middle management

Changed CEO and whole business culture changed from there.Micro-managed in the area of business I used to work. So many changes in management and tactics of management it will leave your head spinning. Communication and training is awful and work life balance not what you would expect in this industry.

Pros

Competitive salary

Cons

Micro managed, poor management

Work

I was treated very unfair and they don't even think about your home life or people with mental health. Was very disappointed by the way I was let go by a company that ment to be there for families and they wasn't for me.

Pros

Good pay

Cons

Treated unfairly

Great culture, great people who care about the YH customer experience

Yorkshire Housing is a not-for-profit organisation providing affordable housing for their customers across Yorkshire. They seem to get the balance right between putting the customer first, whilst being commercially driven. The work philosophy is to recruit the right thinking people, treat them as adults and trust them to contribute value into the organisation. It's a relatively new leadership team and the organisation is looking to establish a clear vision and invest appropriately to enable its delivery. Really exciting times!

Pros

Working from home, but with the opportunity to meet colleagues face-to-face

Cons

Haven't quite nailed how the vision is to be delivered - work in progress

Great place to work

Flexible employer, cares about you and your work/life balance, great benefits and pays well. Everyone is kind, friendly and respectful! Fun and caring place to work. Loads of wellbeing support available and understands the importance of equality, diversity and inclusion across the organisation.

Pros

Flexible, cares about employees, pays well, great ICT kit provided, great benefits

Cons

None

Avoid!

Unfortunately the restructure brought in more people whose face fitted in with higher management rather than experienced staff which had a dire knock on effect to the customer service provided. The contact centre became and remains such a structured place to work with no regard for people individually. Staff are regularly asked to cancel annual leave to attend training but will be bombarded with messages if a couple of minutes late logging on and treated like a child having to ask when time could be taken back for calls that ran past finishing time. The staff who don't suck up to management are frustrated, overlooked and unappreciated and I have seen first hand Yorkshire Housing lose so much experience in their skilled staff leaving to work elsewhere. The company promote their values in their social media and job adverts but internally do not follow nor demonstrate them.If you're looking for a role in social housing my best advice would be to hang fire and look elsewhere for the sake of your mental health if nothing else!

Pros

Payday

Cons

Almost everything

Breaks uk employment laws

If your a tradesman stay well away, contracted to 37.5hrs your expected to give five hours a week ontop out of your own time for nothing that’s 240hrs a year unpaid, work 6am until 6pm for 7.5hrs pay no travel paid, modern day slave drivers! if you refuse to work 12hrs and bring up the working hour laws of the uk and stick to the laws and your contracted hours and don’t do as told they will find a way to terminate your contract. Managers think they own the company they are bullies and you will have to manage everything yourself. There’s other reviews the same as this stay well away people very poor company in every way!

Pros

None at all!

Cons

Unsupportive and Unprofessional

Typical day at work started with the dread of logging in to your computer. Unorganised from start to finish.Management were new and unexperienced due to restructure. Know it all's who didn't know how to listen to a word you said and constantly spoke over you.Workplace culture was none existent Stuck at home unsupported on your computer dreading your phone ringing as you didn't know what you were going to be asked from clueless management this time. The hardest part of the job were the team video calls where the whole team had to pretend they actually enjoyed listening to the manager talking about what she got up to that weekend before slating her fellow colleagues behind their backs. The most enjoyable part of the job was clicking the log off button at the end of the day.

Great company to work for

Once you’re in they look after you, great benefits and work life. Great company values and vision, grounds maintenance would be the perfect role for someone self motivated and wanting to evolve

Ambitious, energetic and caring workplace

I joined Yorkshire Housing just over a year ago and was really impressed with how the company adapted through lockdown. They moved to a really flexible, agile way of working which has allowed me and other teams to be more productive and even collaborative due to the technology that is in place. Customers are always at the heart of all that we do and it really feels that's the case when working with different colleagues and managers around the business. The organisation is on an ambitious development journey and it's great to be in board!

Pros

Flexible, good technology, friendly environment, good values

Cons

Working with Yorkshire Housing

The tenanrs and the job its self we're great however there's a lot of woman middle management who are genuinely clueless regarding housing issues, they care more bout how their selfies look on the company app than the works of the company. I was only temping but found some couldn't use a pc to search regarding tenant issues

Pros

Great tenants

Cons

Management, blind leading the blind
