Good job but awful management

Indeed featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
Everything is good apart from management. The managers are rude and make you do unpaid overtime. I was making the most sales and the manager was still rude to me and said i was lazy?

Pros

Comission

Cons

Managers

Low paid

Salaries are very low, especially if you work in central London. Don’t think you will be happy to work in Kensington and spend 3 hours every day for travel because is impossible to afford something closer. Salary increase in 2022 was literally 3% when inflation in May was 7%. It was ridiculous to see that after increase your salary become even less. Being on training is very tricky, because you have all responsibilities without being paid for it. If you work in menswear or Kidswear, you are expected to know customer service, commerciality, till, management and stockroom and still will be paid at lowest rate. It is ok job only if you are a student and your contract is no more than 24 hours.

Fun workplace

Great place to work, management was fun and would have a good laugh as long as the work was done. Only downside was closing shifts could be a pain the store was busy everything had to be presentable before you was allowed to go home.

Pros

long lunches, good management, good atmosphere

Cons

closing shifts, weekend work

Insane work load

I was always stressed and I quit within a week. The expectations they have were crazy and they gave barely any support. The pay isn’t worth the stress or the anxiety that comes with the job. You can often see yourself doing tasks with little training beforehand. The discount is given after a month of working… 25% is not worth it.

Very poor management

Fast-paced workplace and fairly easy retail job but terrible management. No training provided for new employees. Some managers are not helpful or understanding.

Good discount, decent pay and benefits but very hardwork for what it's worth

I am still very new to zara my team and managment are amazing and helpful but the work is very draining and you are always expected to stay late then usual to closing the store and sometimes they just assume you can and it sliently forced upon you. You could be doing your own area and stil lbe forced overtime to help the other departments/area

Fun work place

Enjoyed every bit of it. Friendly staff. Lovely managers. The role is very easy and easy to understand. Sometimes you get rude customers but you just need to learn to manage them

Competitive and fast-paced

A typical day at work consisted mainly of keeping up with the store's goals. Daily meetings were held to pass on important information and receive feedback on the previous day's teamwork and sales. You can depend on managers because they work just as much as you do and are more open-minded when you come to them with specific problems. The hardest part of the job was to keep up with expectations. From the moment you start working, you got to do the manager's best. If you do your best but don't meet their goals it simply is not enough. In this job what I learned was that if you have a question or something you don't know how to do ask and ask again until you get there because they appreciate the effort and you get to learn things the right way.

Fun place and spacious

A good place to work with a lot of people around and easy access to the public transport. And they pay you extra during the sale time and it is really good to work being a student.

Good place to work

Good place to work. Very fast paced and hard working. ob is quite fast paced on weekends especially, understaffed in certain areas so you will have to be responsible for more than your roll. Learn different roles which is useful if you're looking to stay in retail.

Fast pased and tiring

Long ish tiring day with a fast workpace. Be prepared to deal with lots of customers asking for where things are and having no idea yourself. Its not bad temp money though.

Fun workplace

It’s more for people who love working and don’t mind shifts,Also if you work hard you’ll be noticed and offer management possibilities where the salary will be much more!
