App works well
Supply teacher (Current Employee) - London, Greater London - 6 November 2023
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedThe app works well in that you can book days off ahead of time without having to speak to anyone. Pay seems relatively low, but is probably fairly typical for the sector.

Helpful staff
Teaching Assistant (Current Employee) - Manchester, Greater Manchester - 9 October 2023
I am very happy with the support from the staff at Zen and with the school TA role they have found me. Good online courses, interview techniques and advice.

Bad management, hard to get in touch with
Teaching Assistant (Current Employee) - Manchester City Centre, Greater Manchester - 11 September 2023
I was really excited to join Zen Educate but I have been disappointed over and over again. They told me they’d keep in contact with me about TA roles and I haven’t heard from anyone since July. Very frustrating. I was promised trail shifts in a few schools local to me and it never happens, They’re so hard to get in touch with, never pick up phone or reply to emails. They post regularly about vacancies near me but when I go to enquire about these roles nobody gets back to me. When I do get in touch the staff are friendly but it’s just not good enough.
Cons
Difficult to get in touch

An honest and trustworthy agency for work in education
Teaching Assistant (Current Employee) - London - 13 August 2023
You can find long term placements or day to day cover easily through this agency. There is an app that helps to do this quickly, though I've been able to arrange my work without this (old phone!) Typical cover days: you accept or decline work in the evening before or early before 7am, and travel in, simple quick checks with reception and then you can get on with what you do best. Flexible working is available; speak to the consultants about what you need and prefer. I've found them to be very understanding and accommodating. You will build more relationships within any school that you work in, as these are the colleagues you see day to day. Each school will have it's unique culture and way of doing things. These factors shape your experience more than anything else.
Pros
Flexibility, available consultants who are supportive
Cons
Depends how school is managing recent changes and stretching resources, like TAs

Teacher assistant
Teaching Assistant (Current Employee) - Cornwall - 15 July 2023
Been with Opus for coming up to two years now. All in all been happy with the jobs I’ve been offered. Some nice recruiters here and some not as nice from my experience like most places of work. My major concern has always been not enough work. I’ve gone weeks with no job then get some so it’s a little inconsistent for me in that aspect. Happy with the recruiter I have though just wish I got more work come in.
Pros
Flexible work. Pay is not bad.
Cons
Not enough work offered. Career progression.

Not bad
Teaching Assistant (Current Employee) - Manchester, Greater Manchester - 26 May 2023
A bit new to Zen and it’s been okay so far , staff has been helpful and understanding. Sometimes cover jobs can pop up an hour before needed which leaves you with little time to get ready. The pay is just okay - more of a top up really after the fees and of course tax.
Pros
Variety of students
Cons
Short notices

Productive
Agency Worker (Former Employee) - London, Greater London - 18 May 2023
The staff are all really nice and welcoming, quick with replies and happy to answer any questions that you may have however they don’t always send you requests that are in your maximum travel time limit and the app/email you receive gives you different travel time to what it actually is from your location

Good schools but agency not helpful
Teaching Assistant (Former Employee) - Hayes, Greater London - 13 May 2023
Work not always available, unsupportive key workers especially when disputes arise with the school, pay isn’t great. I didn’t receive any support from them and they take a large amount of your hard earned money.

ZEN SEN/Autism Cover London
TA cover London (Current Employee) - London - 16 April 2023
This review is based on my particular experience with ZEN and my work is 90% SEN/Autism cover in Primary and Secondary settings around the London area. I’ve found the interview and engagement process efficient and straightforward with a video call and background checks. I have DBS on the update service which is quick and best for me. I’ve found the majority of schools helpful and good to work in with sufficient information where needed. I only had one issue in all my bookings where I attended and they hadn’t had my DBS information from the agency so I had a wasted journey but all other cover was trouble free. The app is easy and user friendly and communication with ZEN is simple. I wouldn’t use the umbrella service to be paid but simply PAYE to avoid additional fees.
Pros
App bookings
Cons
Low salary for SEN work and not PAYE

Alright
SEN TA (Current Employee) - London, Greater London - 11 April 2023
Communication is great, they are very understanding to meeting your needs so they try their best to match you with roles you are looking for. The pay is 50/50 not really enough to live off so daily supply as well as another job else where would be ideal. Have to wake up early everyday from 6am just to keep an eye on the app to accept daily roles which can be annoying sometimes as nothing may come up or, it just may be too far for you. Overall like any job, there are enough pros and cons.

Fast, Fun and Fulfilling
Account management (Current Employee) - London, Greater London - 23 February 2023
Everyone works towards the same mission, to improve the education system. Everyone cares for teachers and TAs and the work that they do for the young people in UK and US schools!

everyday is different
Teacher Assitant (Current Employee) - London - 19 December 2022
The app is very streamlined, book jobs whenever available or wake up between 5:30 to 6:30 to get a call in the morning about last-minute substitute jobs that you probably travel an hour to. They definitely offer permanent positions as well. You can expect to be paid £80-£100 a day depending on if it's a secondary (usually starting at 8:15/8:30 and finishing at 3:15) or independent or the school is in a more affluent area, the more you'd get paid, and with nurseries (can finish at 18:30) paying the least, I found. Lovely account managers who always reply to emails or call you back when you leave them a voicemail. Overall a tremendous young flourishing e-company to be a temporary teaching assistant.
Pros
sometimes the schools you work with give free lunch
Cons
schools are always a fixed time so not much flexibility

Efficiency and productivity
Teaching Assistant (Current Employee) - Greater Manchester - 10 December 2022
Efficiency and professionallity but lacking in realibitilty as often I found myself without work and out of sudden. It works almost like an agency but better in terms of wage.
Pros
Good wage
Cons
No realibitilty

It allows me to get some experience in the education field.
Teaching Assistant (Current Employee) - Manchester - 11 May 2022
I started my job in April 2022, honestly, I worked only 4 days because some open requests were not convinced to my schedule and some of them were too far from my house. When I applied I informed that I want a specific role as a maths teaching assistant because I have bachelor of mathematics in my home country, however, the only role I have gotten so far as a teaching assistant in day nurseries, nevertheless . Overall I appreciate them because they support me all the time before I start my job I receive a text message and after I finish also to support me .I am grateful for your support.
Pros
optional your work
Cons
Some of different paid depending on hours
