Full job description

Objective: To provide a high standard of food preparation, cooking, serving and cleaning for the nursery.

Qualities/Experience: Practical experience in preparing and presenting food for large numbers of clients. A willingness to participate in training in food preparation and food hygiene.

Main Duties: To assist the cook in the provision of high-quality food. To maintain a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen and dining room.

Organisation responsibilities:

  • To adhere to the policies of the nursery and put these into practice.
  • To pass on relevant information to the Cook.
  • To undertake the preparation of food.
  • To assist in the serving of food.
  • To undertake the clearing away and cleaning of crockery, utensils and kitchen equipment.
  • To undertake the general cleaning of the servery and kitchen.
  • To deputise in the absence of the Cook / other kitchen staff as and when required.
  • To assist in liaising with other professionals related to the nursery.
  • Attend staff meetings and participate in training events.
  • Undertake other duties which may be requested by the Cook.
  • All duties must comply with:

(a) The Health and Safety at work Act, Work with Safer Food, Better Business Guidelines

(b) Food Safety Act

(c) Internal policies including risk assessments

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent

Pay: From £12.47 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 20 per week

Work Location: In person
