School Cook (Temp to Perm – £13.50 per hour)
Location: Morpeth, United Kingdom
Start Date: 5th January
Pay Rate: £13.50 per hour
Hours: 7:30 am – 1:30 pm, Monday to Friday
Contract Type: Temporary to Permanent (term time only – may remain temporary depending on performance and school needs)

About the Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and reliable School Cook to join a friendly school kitchen team in Morpeth.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys preparing fresh, healthy meals and wants to make a positive impact in a school environment. You will work as part of a small, supportive team to provide nutritious meals for pupils and staff, ensuring food is prepared safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook a variety of meals, including main courses, sides, and desserts
  • Follow set menus while incorporating seasonal ingredients where appropriate
  • Maintain high standards of food hygiene and safety at all times
  • Assist with stock control and ordering supplies
  • Keep the kitchen clean, organised, and compliant with health and safety regulations
  • Support junior kitchen staff when required
  • Ensure mealtimes run smoothly and efficiently

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Cook or Chef, ideally within a school or similar catering environment
  • Good knowledge of food hygiene standards and allergen management
  • A positive, reliable attitude and ability to work well within a small team
  • Strong time management and organisational skills
  • Ability to remain calm and efficient during busy periods
  • An Enhanced DBS check and two satisfactory references are required before starting (assistance with DBS can be provided if needed)
