Full job description

The Role

The successful post holder will hold and be responsible for the delivery of a portfolio of courses and support the development and delivery of new and existing courses in the simulation and clinical skills environment. You will contribute to the development of the clinical skills programme

The aim is to prioritise programme needs, prepare and set-up the daily technical elements of all courses using a range of equipment and supplies including, part task trainers, computer based simulators, audiovisual equipment and appropriate medical and surgical equipment making effective utilisation of resources. The post holder will operate as part of the wider NHSL Medical Education Clinical Skills team, the post holder will play a key role in appraising /recommending change of equipment/software packages in relation to simulation and skills training resources.

What we'll need you to bring

  • Educated to degree level in media / IT
  • Previous and on-going experience in a health care environment
  • Experience as a simulation and clinical skills technician
  • Effective listening, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent team working skills with ability to work on own initiative
  • Computer skills across a range of software packages including simulation software
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills
  • A developed interest in simulation (essential)
  • A full, valid UK/EU/EEA drivers licence

Please note for all vacancies where a driving licence is required this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.

It would be great if you also have

  • Health care SVQ 111
  • Previous experience of simulation based education in a clinical environment
  • Ability to work with a range of IT packages : Including excel, 3G.


Contract type

Fixed Term or Secondment for 1 Year

Full time or Part Time

37 hours

Please note this is a fixed term post for 1 Year. Where a post only has temporary funding and an existing member of NHS Lanarkshire staff wishes to apply, this will be treated as a secondment. The employee MUST already have written agreement from their line manager to be released on a secondment before applying for the post.


Location and Working Pattern

This role will be based in Medical Education within Kirklands - NHSL Headquarters

The working pattern for this role will be confirmed by the hiring manager.
