Legal Officer/Paralegal
Job Ref: 000A A0F5 / 1
Pay Rate: £18.26 per hour PAYE – negotiable DOE
Hours per week: 37 Monday – Friday, normal working hours
This opening assignment is for 3 months
Rochdale, OL16 1XU

Summary of what the candidate must have to apply:
  • Experience working as a Legal Officer or Paralegal
  • Background in pre-litigation and civil litigation support
  • Strong experience in debt recovery, particularly adult social care debt
  • Ability to manage case files and support legal proceedings
  • Good written communication and organisational skills



The role: You will provide legal support within a local authority setting, focusing on pre-litigation activity and civil litigation matters. The role will primarily support debt recovery work, with exposure to prosecution work where required.

Key accountabilities:
  • Support pre-litigation and civil litigation casework
  • Manage and progress debt recovery cases, including adult care debt
  • Prepare legal documentation and correspondence
  • Maintain accurate case records and files
  • Liaise with internal departments and external parties
  • Support prosecution work where required



Requirements/key criteria:
  • Previous experience in a Legal Officer or Paralegal role
  • Experience supporting litigation or debt recovery work

Skills and Knowledge:
  • Understanding of civil litigation processes
  • Experience of debt recovery procedures
  • Strong attention to detail and time management skills
  • Ability to work to deadlines in a busy legal environment
