Full job description

Overview
We're seeking a motivated and detail-oriented junior penetration tester to join our team. The role will also include support for Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials plus.

Reporting to the Testing Lead , you will play a key role in delivering simple penetration tests, cyber essentials assessments and audits. The role will be a mixed bag initially until you have gained enough experience to pick a specific area of expertise, e.g. AI testing.

A day in the life

  • Monday morning we have the Periculo Pulse, a weekly brief on the industry, threats, and news that may help with your role
  • You may have a customer call to attend for a scope briefing.
  • One day could be conducting a penetration test and the next, completing a Cyber Essentials Plus Audit (70/30 split)
  • You will advise the customer on your findings, writing reports specifically for our specialist sectors, e.g. health, defence and AI.
  • Review or update client procedures
  • Continually improve our process and procedures including any AI workflows.
  • Stay updated with the latest in privacy law and cyber security trends to support your clients effectively.

Key Duties

  • Penetration Testing of simple applications
  • Testing in health, defence and AI scenarios
  • Participate in client meetings to understand their security needs and requirements. Maintain positive relationships with clients through regular communication and follow-up.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of security policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines.
  • Understand organisational context and risk - everything is not a critical!
  • Support internal and external security audits, including preparation, coordination, and follow-up on findings.
  • Conduct Cyber Essentials Plus audits once trained and certified
  • Prepare and present regular reports on security risks, compliance status, and mitigation activities to senior management.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest security trends, technologies, and regulatory changes to continuously improve the organisation's security posture.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Security Plus qualification is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of security standards including GDPR & ISO27001.
  • Strong problem-solving.

The person who gets the role will be trained by us and have all certifications paid for as required!!

Work Environment

  • Hybrid working with 3 days per week in the Melksham office.
  • Comfortable office environment with pool table, ping pong table and shower.
  • Onsite gym & access to recovery suite including sauna and ice bath.
  • From time to time there might be a need to travel to customers' premises.
  • Good training budget
