Job Summary
Reporting to the Group Head of Projects in Guernsey, this is a key managerial role focused on data-driven business analysis and project reporting. The Business Solutions Analyst acts as a bridge between business needs and technology solutions, ensuring that processes, systems, and strategies are aligned to deliver optimal business outcomes. This role combines business analysis, solution design, and data-driven insights to support transformation and continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring solutions align with business objectives and deliver measurable value.
The successful candidate will leverage data analytics and visualisation tools to create dashboards, streamline project reporting through automation, and provide actionable insights to support evidence-based decision-making. They will play a critical role in ensuring projects are driven by accurate and timely data, improving the reporting process. The postholder will be a proactive team member, able to work independently and collaborate with a broad range of internal stakeholders both in person and in a virtual environment, to ensure high quality services and outcomes are achieved.
Job accountabilities
- Lead business analysis activities across multiple projects, ensuring requirements are clearly defined, documented, and communicated.
- Design and maintain interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI or similar tools, ensuring accurate and timely insights for stakeholders.
- Analyse datasets for specific projects to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, supporting strategic and operational decisions.
- Develop and maintain data models, workflows, and governance standards to ensure consistency and accuracy.
- Prepare reports and presentations on projects and potential business solutions for senior leadership and stakeholders.
- Support project managers and technical teams to ensure solutions are data-driven and deliver measurable benefits.
- Build and sustain effective relationships with key stakeholders across departments to ensure project success.
- Act as a trusted advisor, providing actionable insights and recommendations based on data analysis
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing within the organisation, particularly in the use of digital tools to streamline project delivery.
- Ensure compliance with data governance, security, and regulatory requirements.
Minimum education and experience
- Educated to ‘A’ Level standard, or equivalent
- A minimum of five years’ relevant experience
- Proven experience in Power BI (or equivalent), Excel (advanced), and data analytics.
- Experience in requirements gathering, process optimisation, and stakeholder management, preferably in a multi-disciplinary environment.
Preferable but not essential
- Experience of contributing to regulatory or compliance-driven projects.
- Professional qualification in Business Analysis (e.g., BCS, IIBA) or Data Analytics.
Required skills
- Strong ability to build, manage, and maintain relationships at all levels of the organisation.
- Demonstrable expertise in data analysis, documentation, dashboard development, and operational reporting.
- Proficiency in Power BI, Excel (including Power Query and PivotTables), and/or other data platforms
- Strong critical analysis and problem-solving capabilities to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights.
- Effective business presentation skills and the ability to produce high-quality project documentation and reports.
- Strong negotiation skills to align stakeholder expectations and resolve conflicts.
- Ability to work independently, meet tight deadlines, and manage competing priorities effectively.
