Job Overview
Ideal for: FP&A Analyst seeking a move into Business Partnering

Purpose

This role offers the perfect next step for an experienced FP&A Analyst who wants to move beyond reporting and become a true Finance Business Partner. You’ll provide insight and challenge to the UK sales and service teams, influencing decisions and driving performance improvement.

The Organisation

Tennant Company is a leading provider of commercial cleaning equipment sales and service in the UK.

Position in the Organisation

Based in Bolton with regular travel to Northampton, reporting to the Head of Finance UK & Ireland. You’ll work closely with local finance, sales/service managers, and EMEA HQ finance teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Business Partnering: Move beyond reporting—work directly with sales and service leaders to influence decisions and improve performance.
  • Reporting & Analysis: Own monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting, including P&L reviews, variance analysis, and KPI dashboards (Excel/Power BI).
  • Forecasting & Planning: Play a key role in building budgets and forecasts, supporting the Annual Operating Plan and periodic updates.
  • Month-End & Compliance: Manage close activities, inventory valuation, rebate calculations, and ensure SOX compliance.
  • Performance Monitoring: Track sales, margin evolution, and service profitability; present KPIs and challenge results.
  • Process & System Improvements: Enhance reporting templates, ERP/BI tools, and drive efficiency improvements.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships across finance and operations, becoming a trusted advisor.
  • Ad Hoc Analysis: Deliver insights to support strategic initiatives and management decisions.

The Person

  • Experienced FP&A Analyst or similar, ready to step into a business partnering role.
  • Newly qualified or finalist accountant (CIMA preferred).
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to turn data into actionable insight.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Advanced Excel skills; exposure to Power BI and ERP systems (SAP/Navision desirable).
  • Proactive, adaptable, and confident working under pressure.
  • Full UK driving license for travel between sites.

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years in FP&A or commercial finance.
  • Advanced Excel proficiency; experience with BI tools (Power BI preferred).
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP or MS Navision desirable).
  • Knowledge of SOX compliance and audit processes advantageous.
  • Fluent in English; additional EU languages a plus.
