Lecturer in Electrical / Renewable Technologies

35 hours per week

Permanent

Ayr campus

You will contribute to ensuring a positive learning environment which encourages active participation and enables all learners to achieve their full potential, through the effective learning and teaching of students by assisting in the development, delivery and assessment of relevant resources.


This will involve supporting the Curriculum Quality Manager in the delivery of the department curriculum to the quality and standards required, through an integrated learning experience that supports the student journey, delivering first-class and high-quality learning and teaching experiences.


The successful candidate will bring strong technical knowledge and industry experience across electrical technologies, including areas such as electrical installation, electrical engineering principles, power systems, AC/DC theory and programmable logic controllers (PLCs). Knowledge or experience of industrial applications, renewable energy, wind turbine technology or power distribution would be highly advantageous.


Applicants should be passionate about inspiring the next generation of electrical or renewables professionals and capable of delivering an engaging blend of practical and theoretical learning. A commitment to high-quality learning, teaching and assessment is essential, alongside the ability to support students with a wide range of backgrounds, including school leavers, adult returners, and those progressing from vocational routes.


You should be qualified to degree-level qualification or equivalent within an electrical discipline, alongside relevant industrial experience and up-to-date knowledge of current industry standards, regulations and emerging technologies. Experience of working with industry partners, or an understanding of employer needs within the electrical and energy sectors, would be desirable. You will have the ability to contextualise technical concepts, including electrical theory and mathematics, into meaningful real-world applications.You will have strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and support learners to achieve positive outcomes
