Summary:

D & M Design & Fabrication Ltd is a successful and fast paced sheet metal subcontract business based near Ripon, North Yorkshire. We are proud and passionate about our business and are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our workshop team.

Key Responsibilities:

· Work in multiple departments, including: Laser Cutting, Deburring, Folding, Fabrication, DeBlueing, Shot Blasting, Powder Coating, Despatch and Delivery. Department allocation will depend on daily production workload, so the successful candidate will need to be dynamic and adapt quickly to different areas/ types of work.

· Full training in each area will be provided – the successful candidate will be keen to listen and learn quickly.

· This role will involve performing checks on products between departments, to ensure the right parts and quantities are present for the next department. This will also include completing paperwork accurately to indicate that the check has been completed.

· Sandblasting parts ready for powder coating

· Assist with breaking out laser cut metal parts and organising these onto pallets for the next departments to pick up and process.

· There may be opportunities to progress and specialise in a specific department in the longer term for the right candidate, including the potential to learn how to operate CNC machines, for example the Laser cutting machine and press brakes.

· Read and follow instructions on engineering drawings to carry out each job to customer requirements with utmost accuracy.

· Assist the Despatch team when required to package/ label/ palletise items ready for delivery.

· You may be required to deliver products to customers as and when required, driving the company vans and flat beds. Load up the vans with items to be delivered. This will involve driving a counterbalance forklift truck. When out on the road, you will need to be organised, sticking to agreed delivery times on a multi drop run and you will also be representing the company to our customers.

· Learn the high-quality standards expected within the company. We are certified to the BS EN 1090 standard, so have very high standards / processes that must be followed.

Adhere to rigorous Health and Safety standards. Maintenance of workshop and yard, cleaning floors, emptying bins and general cleaning tasks to ensure workshop and yard are in great condition.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience Required:

· Good general education including English and Maths.

· This role will involve shot blasting in a relatively confined blasting cabinet. The successful candidate must be willing and able to do this task as part of the role.

· Experience of working in a workshop environment and/ or Engineering business is preferable but not essential.

· Willingness to learn and quickly pick up new skills taught is essential for this role.

· Must be able to prioritise workload and adapt positively and efficiently to last minute changes.

· Good level of fitness is needed as the job will involve some lifting and manual handling.

· Strong team player.

· Ability to inspect own work (and work of others) and demonstrate honesty to report any quality issues.

· Excellent communication and organisation skills.

· Very strong eye for detail, to finish parts to an immaculate standard.

· Must be punctual and reliable.

· Demonstrate flexibility to work overtime when required.

Contract:

Permanent, full time contract: Monday to Friday (7:00am to 16:00pm). Must be willing to do overtime if required.

· Due to our rural location you must hold a valid driving licence and have your own transport
