Full job description

Digital Marketing Manager HomeRewire | Glasgow, Permanent | Monday–Thursday (4-Day Week) £30,000 base | OTE up to £40,000 with performance bonus

Benefits: Performance bonus, 4-day working week, flexible working, free on-site parking, and a genuinely autonomous role where your results are recognised and rewarded.

About Us

We're HomeRewire, Scotland's largest dedicated residential rewiring company as seen on STV. Born and built in Glasgow. With 20 staff and over 800 five-star reviews, we've built a reputation that speaks for itself and its now time to take our digital marketing in house.

We're a fast-moving, no-nonsense business and we back good people. We've outgrown the agency model and we're ready to bring our digital marketing in-house. This is a rare opportunity to own something from day one and be directly rewarded for what you deliver.

The Role

We're looking for a hands-on, technically sharp Digital Marketing & SEO Manager to take full ownership of our online presence. This isn't a strategy-and-delegate role you'll be doing the work yourself, using modern tools including AI to punch well above your weight.

You'll be responsible for getting HomeRewire found — on Google, on AI platforms like ChatGPT and Claude, on Google Maps, and across social media. You'll manage our WordPress website directly, produce and schedule content at scale, and report weekly to the director on what's working and what isn't.

If you're the kind of person who already uses AI every day, understands where search is heading, and wants to be rewarded for real results rather than billing hours, this role was written for you.

The role would suit someone already working at a large agency who wants a new challenge to head up the digital marketing for an established local firm.

Key Responsibilities

SEO & AI Search

  • Own and execute the full SEO strategy — on-page, local, and technical
  • Optimise HomeRewire's presence across AI search platforms including ChatGPT, Claude, Google AI Overviews, and Perplexity
  • Stay ahead of changes in how search engines and LLMs surface and recommend local businesses
  • Conduct keyword research, competitor analysis, and rank tracking using SEMrush or Ahrefs
  • Manage and optimise Google Search Console and Google Business Profile

Website Management

  • Make edits, updates, and improvements directly on our WordPress website
  • Manage plugins, page builders, hosting configuration, DNS basics, and site performance
  • Ensure all pages are optimised for search, usability, and conversion
  • Identify and resolve technical SEO issues independently

Content & Blog

  • Use AI tools to research, write, and publish regular blog content that ranks
  • Build and maintain a content schedule that delivers consistent output with minimal ongoing input
  • Ensure all content is properly indexed and tracked for performance

Social Media & Google Maps

  • Use AI tools to create and schedule posts across social media platforms and Google Business Profile
  • Maintain a consistent brand voice and posting schedule
  • Grow engagement and visibility across all platforms

Reporting & Strategy

  • Attend a weekly in-person strategy and reporting meeting with the director
  • Report on organic leads, keyword rankings, website traffic, Google Business Profile performance, and blog output
  • Translate data into clear actions and continuously refine the strategy based on results

Must-Haves

  • Local to Glasgow — this role requires weekly in-person attendance and is not fully remote
  • Proven experience in SEO including on-page, local, and technical
  • Up to speed on AI SEO — understanding how LLMs rank, recommend, and surface businesses
  • Confident managing and editing a WordPress website including backend, plugins, and basic hosting/DNS
  • Daily user of AI tools such as ChatGPT and Claude for content creation and workflow
  • Proficient in Google Search Console, Google Analytics 4, and Google Business Profile
  • Experienced with SEMrush or Ahrefs for research, tracking, and competitive analysis
  • Results-driven and comfortable being measured on performance metrics

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience with Yoast SEO or Rank Math
  • Familiarity with content scheduling tools such as Buffer, Hootsuite, or WordPress native scheduling
  • Basic graphic design ability in Canva
  • Experience with caching and performance plugins such as WP Rocket
  • Background in trades, home services, or local services marketing

What You'll Earn

  • £30,000 base salary
  • Monthly performance bonus based on: organic and AI search leads generated, keyword ranking improvements, Google Business Profile views and engagement, blog posts completed and indexed, and overall website traffic growth
  • Consistently hit your targets and take your total earnings up to £40,000

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Technically confident — comfortable in website backends, not just front-end tools
  • Strong understanding of how search works and where it's going
  • Self-starter who can plan, execute, and report without hand-holding
  • Data-driven — you track everything and make decisions based on numbers
  • Enthusiastic about AI and actively uses it to work smarter

Desirable:

  • Experience working within or alongside a digital agency
  • Understanding of paid search and how it interacts with organic performance
  • Awareness of GDPR as it relates to digital marketing
