Night Deputy Manager

At Black Swan Care Group, we are currently looking for a night deputy manager to work in one of our residential care facilities, Valentine House, on a full time, 48 hour, permanent contract, £35,443 per annum.

Valentine House is an elderly care home in Silver End, a small village in Essex, between Braintree and Witham. The Home is a large care facility able to accommodate up to 50 residents, including special support for those living with Dementia.

Responsibilities of a Deputy Manager

  • Investigate complaints, take appropriate action, and report to the Manager, and undertake ‘on-call’ duties.
  • Take responsibility to secure and sustain the home for the residents and maintain high standards of professional practice.
  • Ensure all financial invoices are paid. Ensure the home is meeting the personal care needs of residents, and the emotional, spiritual, physical, medical, and material needs of the residents are recognised, assessed, and met.
  • Make or contribute to the assessment of the needs of each resident in conjunction with the resident and provide healthcare arrangements.
  • Ensure that each resident receives a Service Users Guide.
  • Support recruitment tasks, dealing with appointments, and ensure that adequate staffing levels are maintained.
  • Assist Management in ensuring there is good communication with/between staff and arrange staff meetings.
  • Ensure that effective induction, supervision, and assessment of staff are carried out, that training needs are identified and met, and that all statutory requirements are met in respect of fire safety, environmental health, and health and safety at work.

Requirements of a Deputy Manager:

  • Positive, ‘can do’ attitude and caring nature
  • Weekend and evening availability (must be able to work every other weekend)
  • Team player
  • Forward-thinking
  • Previous experience would be beneficial; however, training will be provided for the successful candidate
  • Valid NVQ Level 2 or above in Health and Social Care
