Full job description

Join Koji Academy

At Koji Academy, “Koji” means calm and healing—and that’s the heart of what we do. From SEN support to home and online tuition, we’re here for children who need us most. We’re a Telford-based ed tech, ISO9001 certified from day one, supported by Innovate Telford, and part of Kaidoko—the team behind the subcontinent’s first online digital university.

Our Mission

We transform the educational journeys of children with:

  • Special Educational Needs (SEN)
  • Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) needs
  • Moderate & Severe Learning Difficulties (MLD/SLD)

Our goal is simple: create a calm, inclusive, and supportive learning environment where every child can thrive.

Who We’re Looking For

We need dedicated SEN tutors and Early Years Practitioners who are:

  • Passionate about making a real difference
  • Skilled in 1:1 support for vulnerable learners
  • Creative, adaptable, and trauma-sensitive

You’ll be supported every step by our SEN Support Specialists.

Why Work with Koji?

  • Flexible hours (part-time or full-time)
  • Ready-made lesson plans
  • In-person and occasional online tutoring
  • Full access to Tes CPD and training
  • Dedicated SEN support team
  • Supportive tutor community
  • Focus on child-centred, meaningful impact
  • Wellbeing and work-life balance

About the Role

As an SEN/SEND tutor, you’ll provide tailored 1:1 tuition for KS1–KS5 students in the Wigan area, either at home or in community settings. Tuition takes place during school hours (09:30–16:00). Students may have SEND, SEMH, MLD, SLD, or medical needs, referred by local authorities or schools, requiring trauma-informed, holistic support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan & Deliver Sessions: Lead engaging lessons tailored to each student’s needs (mostly in-person at family homes or in community settings).
  • Tailor Lesson Plans: Use pre-prepared lessons to personalise for each student.
  • Supportive Learning Environment: Foster academic and social-emotional growth.
  • Progress Feedback: Complete reports and provide feedback.
  • Safeguarding: Follow all safeguarding procedures—safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility; at Koji Academy we have zero relaxation in safeguarding procedures.

Requirements

Must:

  • Full UK Driving Licence (for in-person sessions)
  • Flexible to travel across Wigan postcodes
  • Enhanced DBS, registered on the update service
  • Professional teaching qualifications (QTS/QTLS)
  • Experience with the British National Curriculum
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Two professional references

Desirable:

  • Minimum 2 years’ teaching experience with SEND, SEMH, MLD, or SLD students
  • Two professional references

Employment Details

  • Status: Self-employed
