About ARU:
ARU is a global university transforming lives through innovative, inclusive and entrepreneurial education and research. ARU holds a Gold award for the quality of its education, awarded through the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF).
ARU’s research institutes and four faculties bridge scientific, technical and creative fields. We deliver impactful research which tackles pressing issues and makes a real difference to our communities. Our academic excellence has been recognised by the UK’s Higher Education funding bodies, with 16 of our research areas assessed as world leading. We are the largest provider of Nursing, Midwifery, Health and Social Care students in the East of England, and we are also among the UK’s leading universities for degree apprenticeship provision, working with hundreds of employers across the UK.
About the Role
Based within our Employability Services team at our Cambridge campus, you will play a key role in helping students develop the skills, confidence and experiences needed to achieve graduate success. As a Careers Consultant, you will work in partnership with your aligned Schools/Faculties to embed employability throughout our degrees (undergraduate and postgraduate), delivering innovative and impactful activities and approaches that enhance student experience and Graduate Outcomes, and prepare them for their future.
You will provide high-quality one-to-one careers guidance, workshops and curriculum-embedded career development learning, supporting students to develop their career management skills and make informed decisions about their future. Working in close partnership with academic colleagues, you will help design, deliver and evaluate employability initiatives within the curriculum, including live briefs. You will collaborate with colleagues across Employability Services, including our Work-Based Learning and Industry Engagement teams to create meaningful opportunities that connect students with employers and industry professionals within their curriculum. You will also use labour market intelligence, sector insight and student feedback to inform service delivery, evaluate impact and contribute to continuous improvement, helping to drive positive graduate success.
With a degree and relevant professional experience, or a combination of substantial experience and continuing professional development, you will have experience of careers guidance, employability support, graduate recruitment, coaching or a related environment. You will be confident delivering engaging workshops and presentations, building effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders and managing initiatives that deliver measurable impact.
You will possess excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills, alongside the ability to analyse information, evaluate outcomes and contribute to service enhancement. Knowledge of graduate employability, career development and the challenges facing students and graduates in today's labour market will be essential. Most importantly, you will be passionate about supporting student success and committed to helping learners achieve their ambitions.
Informal enquiries can be made to Amanda Crouch, Head of Student and Graduate Futures, on: amanda.crouch@aru.ac.uk
Interviews scheduled for Thursday 1st October 2026 at the Cambridge Campus.
