As a growing law firm we are seeking an experienced, Family Law Paralegal/Legal Assistant for our Birmingham office.

The firm is looking for an ambitious person who is enthusiastic about their area of law, effective at business development and has excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation and team skills. You must be able to manage your own caseload with minimum supervision and be prepared to develop further through networking and links with local sources of referral work.

You will aspire to work in publicly funded Family law and have previously worked within a law firm, working under the supervision of a Supervising Solicitor you will deliver a high standard of client care, concentrating on publicly funded matters, predominantly domestic abuse and including private children law, public children law.

You will assess the merits of your client’s case, calculate their eligibility for legal aid and process their funding application as well as taking witness statements, drafting documents and making preparations for court. There may also be the opportunity to undertake advocacy.

Preferably, candidates will have experience of preparing non molestation orders and/or processing legal aid applications.

You can work comfortably in a very fast paced environment, dealing with matters of a very sensitive and sometimes distressing nature. You carry out work accurately and meet deadlines with ease.

You are looking to establish yourself within a firm who will support your long term career development in Family Law.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From £23,000.00 per year

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Birmingham: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)

Education:

  • A-Level or equivalent (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

  • Driving Licence (required)
