Company Overview
Rain Rescue, established in 2002, is dedicated to saving the lives of hundreds of dogs and cats each year from crisis situations. We are committed to finding loving new homes for these animals and supporting our local community through raising awareness about animal welfare issues and promoting responsible pet ownership.
Main Purpose of the Role:
We are seeking an enthusiastic fundraiser to join our small, collaborative team. You will be a proactive, organised individual with experience of working with volunteers and a talent for building strong relationships. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on variety and is committed to enhancing the work of Rain Rescue by driving community and third party fundraising, as well as engaging and developing volunteers.
In this role, you will oversee aspects of the volunteering programme, including recruitment and induction, as well as training and development for fundraising volunteers. You will also oversee the community fundraising and events programme for the Charity, raising funds and awareness at a calendar of appropriate local and regional events, to further the aims of the Charity. You will be confident engaging with the public, advocating for the Charity and its beneficiaries, and be able to clearly communicate our mission, with the view to securing and increasing support. A key focus will be ensuring volunteers are well-prepared, feel adequately communicated with, and are well integrated into Rain Rescue’s fundraising activities.
You will be responsible for Community Fundraising for the Charity, including, but not limited to, preparing for and attending events, managing and growing our collection box programme, arranging and attending bucket collections, and galvanising our volunteer team to fundraise on our behalf, equipping them with the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to do so.

The below job description is a summary of the main outputs of the role. You may be required to undertake other reasonably appropriate duties as required by the needs and demands of the Charity.
Main duties:
- Support the volunteering programme by arranging and facilitating volunteering recruitment and inductions, Actively lead and develop those volunteers interested in fundraising, and encourage volunteers to contribute to the organisation across multiple departments, beyond their initial area of interest, including fostering and fundraising activities.
- Support all departments with their volunteering needs, and collaborate with the Fundraising team to create campaigns to recruit new volunteers, prioritising the needs of the organisation.
- Be the main point of contact for Rain Rescue’s fundraising volunteers, respond to their queries, ensure they are supported with all of the information and resources they need to execute their roles as expected of them.
- Oversee all aspects of Community Fundraising for Rain Rescue, in adherence to the Fundraising Roadmap and supported by the Fundraising Manager.
- Develop and deliver a calendar of events and attendances at which Rain Rescue can raise funds, raise awareness, and increase its public profile. These events should be appropriate to our cause, and aligned with our mission and values.
- Oversee and grow the Charity’s collection box programme, placing new boxes in the community, ensuring efficient collection of income generated, stewarding box holders to further support, and training and empowering volunteers to take ownership of managing collection boxes in their locality.
- Arrange and coordinate volunteer or staff attendance at regular bucket collections to raise funds and awareness for Rain Rescue, at locations such as supermarkets, local markets, and friendly venues.
- Steward existing and develop new relationships with supporters in the Community, such as local businesses, schools and existing or potential partners.
- Create occasional marketing and/or social media content, including copywriting for on and offline communications, support the Fundraising team in the development and delivery of campaigns where required, such as our annual Christmas Dinner campaign and bi-annual magazines.
