The Company:
Founded in 1969, IAE is the UK’s largest manufacturer of agricultural livestock handling and feeding equipment, as well as industrial security fencing. Based at our modern Stoke-on-Trent site with around 400 employees, we are a family-owned business proud of our quality, innovation, and commitment to our people.

The Role:
We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Manager to oversee maintenance operations across our manufacturing facilities, including our galvanising plant. The maintenance team operates seven days a week, and you will ensure all machinery, equipment, and infrastructure function safely, efficiently, and reliably. This hands-on leadership role involves optimising equipment performance, minimising downtime, maintaining safety and compliance standards, and developing a skilled maintenance team. The role is Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 16:30, but may require additional out-of-hours work when needed.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement preventative and predictive maintenance programmes to maximise equipment performance and reliability.
  • Coordinate all maintenance activities to minimise production interruptions and downtime.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for equipment failures or recurring issues.
  • Plan and execute maintenance shutdowns and major repair projects within time and budget.
  • Lead, supervise, and develop maintenance personnel, including technicians, electricians, and mechanics.
  • Provide training, guidance, and performance evaluations to support professional growth.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain all facility equipment, utilities, and infrastructure in optimal condition.
  • Ensure accurate maintenance records through CMMS systems and oversee spare parts inventory.
  • Manage the maintenance department budget, track expenditures, and implement cost-saving measures.
  • Source, negotiate, and manage contracts with external vendors and contractors.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with HSE, ISO, and company standards.
  • Conduct safety audits, risk assessments, and inspections to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to enhance facility reliability and efficiency.
  • Implement Lean, TPM, or RCM best practices and monitor KPIs such as equipment uptime, MTBF, and MTTR.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum 7 years of progressive maintenance experience, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and PLC-controlled systems.
  • Electrical/mechanical qualifications, including 18th Edition.
  • Proficiency with CMMS software and Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent analytical, organisational, and communication skills.
  • Comprehensive understanding of industrial safety standards and maintenance best practices.

Preferred:

  • Certification in Maintenance and Reliability (CMRP) or Certified Maintenance Manager (CPMM).
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, TPM, or Reliability-Centred Maintenance (RCM).
  • Proven record of implementing KPIs and continuous improvement projects in a manufacturing setting.

Benefits:

  • Working hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 16:30, with occasional out-of-hours work.
  • 32 days’ holiday (rising with loyalty), pension contributions, life insurance, health cash plan, gym discounts, and mental health support.
  • Training and development opportunities to help you succeed and grow.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: £50,000.00-£55,000.00 per year

Benefits:

  • Company pension
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Free parking
  • Health & wellbeing programme
  • Life insurance
