Job Title: Maintenance Lead

Location: Hams Hall, Coleshill, Birmingham

Join ROCKWOOL UK, part of the leading manufacturer of sustainable stone wool insulation products, and play a vital role in building a better future.

At our state-of-the-art facility in Hams Hall, Birmingham, we are actively recruiting for a Maintenance Lead to own and manage the operational maintenance, equipment reliability and any other related processes at the ROCKWOOL Hams Hall facility.

The role holder will report directly to the site Operations Manager on a day-to-day basis and lead a small team of maintenance, including having overall responsibility for all contractors on site.

What you bring:

  • Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Lean Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent maintenance-focused qualification)
  • Strong maintenance background, ideally from a fast-moving manufacturing environment
  • Experience using computer-based maintenance systems (SAP/MRP desirable)
  • IOSH or NEBOSH qualified, with additional project management certification preferred
  • Previous experience with PLC knowledge would be advantageous
  • Proven experience in reliability and process engineering, including TPM
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing maintenance teams in manufacturing

What you will be doing:

  • Owning reliability and maintenance for all manufacturing equipment and site facilities
  • Developing and delivering maintenance and production improvement plans with strong focus on OEE, TPM and cost control
  • Leading problem solving on maintenance, reliability and process issues, and supporting regular reviews of manufacturing performance
  • Ensuring all equipment and process documentation (risk assessments, SOPs, manuals) is accurate and up to date
  • Driving continuous improvement, cost savings and a TPM culture aimed at zero breakdowns while maintaining high compliance standards
  • Leading Health & Safety on site in line with the ROCKWOOL UK Safety System, ensuring full EHS compliance for employees and contractors
  • Selecting, managing and controlling contractors safely, including RAMS, permits to work and adherence to UK regulations (e.g. ISO14001, LOTO)
  • Maintaining strong housekeeping standards and implementing ROPEX and other safety/CI initiatives, fully utilising EHS systems
  • Leading, coaching and developing the maintenance team (and onsite contractors), ensuring performance, compliance and positive behaviours
  • Setting clear goals and accountabilities for team and machine performance, supported by regular appraisals and feedback
  • Developing team capabilities and succession plans to meet current and future business needs
