Assistant Financial Controller

Right on the waterfront and next to the ExCel exhibition center, the hotel is only a 12 minute tube ride from Central London.

We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Financial Controller to join our Truly Talented team.

The Role

As an Assistant Financial Controller, you will be supporting the on-site Fnancial Controller with the achievement of the hotel’s financial objectives. Assisting with the production of budgets and financial statements and ensuring an efficient, accurate financial and administrative hotel finance operation.

The core skills and experience required to succeed:

A structured approach to business planning and management;
Experience in challenging costs;
Experience in a similar role with experience in supporting with the production of financial statements and budgets;
Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and HR information systems;
Proven ability to diagnose problems with critical thinking skills, as well as drive appropriate solutions with initiative;
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a strong command of spoken and written English;
Strong organisational skills developed in a fast paced environment;
Sound understanding of the legal framework in relation to finance operations;
Previous experience in a hotel or related environment preferred but not essential;
Results focused with an overwhelming desire to succeed.

KEY RESPONSABILITIES

Daily revenue reconciliation
  • Cost control – PO’s and PO reconciliation, uploading invoices to payment system (P2D); approving some invoices.
  • Reconcile daily banking
  • Updating live profit model
  • Ensuring control of the hotels sales ledger, ensuring that all invoices, receipts, BACS payments etc. are correctly posted to the system
  • Checking accommodation sales ledger invoices before they are sent to the client
  • Responding to sales ledger queries from clients with the aid of reservations
  • Undertaking sales ledger end of month procedures, sending statements to debtors, producing reports required by Axiom HO
  • Chasing overdue debts and resolving any related problems or queries
  • Checking all travel agent commission claims with reservations and resolve any queries with the agent concerned
  • Assist the financial controller in reporting to hotel management accountant all month end information, to ensure timely completion of month end.
  • Producing of any other ad-hoc reports that may be requested by the FC , GM or Axiom HO
  • Ensure compliance with all Internal audit requirements
  • Assist where required with HR administration
  • Deputise in the absence of the Financial Controller
  • Actively participate in hotel CARE Committee
  • Attend weekly payroll meeting in absence of FC
PERFORMANCE MEASURES
  • Hotel financial target achievement
  • Achievement of agreed personal targets and objectives.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Demonstrable experience in a Finance Department , preferably in hotels
  • Understanding of Profit and Loss statement
  • Numerate, computer literate and efficient and productive
  • Audit knowledge and experience
  • Results focused with an overwhelming desire to succeed
  • Advanced IT skills including Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
  • Hotel Finance Experience – minimum 3 years
  • Knowledge of Hilton systems ideal but no essential
  • Trustworthy
  • Focused on results and able to work under pressure and to challenging deadlines.

  • Financially and commercially astute with strong business acumen
  • Highly self-motivated, confident, decisive and able to work with limited supervision

You must have the right to work in the UK to be eligible for this role. Documented evidence of eligibility will be required from all candidates prior to commencing employment.
