Prestigious Global Talent Fund Opportunity
The University of Strathclyde has been awarded significant funding by UK Research and Innovation’s Global Talent Fund to recruit leading international researchers in areas of national and global strategic importance. As one of only 12 UK institutions to secure this highly prestigious investment, Strathclyde is uniquely positioned to accelerate its world-class strengths at the intersection of research excellence, industry collaboration and societal impact. This landmark funding underpins the appointment of a new Professor of Finance/Financial Analytics – a career-defining opportunity to shape the global agenda for data-driven research and innovation in finance. The role offers the chance to contribute to a bold, forward-looking research environment where advanced analytics, data-intensive methods and emerging innovations such as AI are transforming financial theory and practice. We are seeking an outstanding academic leader who will translate rigorous analytical research into real-world impact, advance data-driven approaches in financial services, including innovations in AI, and position Strathclyde as a leader in responsible, high-impact financial research and innovation.
Why Strathclyde?
The University of Strathclyde is a globally recognised, research-intensive university with a strong track record of delivering impactful research that addresses global challenges and drives innovation. Researchers benefit from access to world-class facilities, a collaborative ecosystem of academic and industry partners, and a culture that fosters interdisciplinary innovation and real-world impact.
About the UKRI Global Talent Fund
This prestigious programme supports the recruitment and integration of globally recognised researchers into the UK’s research landscape. Benefits include:
- Permanent Academic Appointments (commencing 2025–26)
- Dedicated Research Funding aligned with national and global priorities
- Competitive Salary and Benefits package
- Relocation Support for researchers and their families
- Visa Sponsorship, including Global Talent visa and Immigration Health Surcharge
- Career Development through mentorship, peer networks, and structured progression
Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
Strathclyde is committed to creating an inclusive and supportive research environment. We actively welcome applications from candidates of all backgrounds, particularly those from underrepresented groups. Our recruitment processes are designed to ensure fairness and equity, and we are dedicated to supporting all researchers to thrive, regardless of gender, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation, or socio-economic background.

In line with the funding requirements, it is only open to international researchers who have not resided in the UK during the 24 months prior to the grant start date and are not currently employed by UK-based organisations or their overseas campuses. All researchers supported by the Global Talent Fund must relocate to the United Kingdom or the Common Travel Area. The majority of their time dedicated to the funded research must be spent physically based in the UK.
