We're Hiring! Full time General Manager
At The Good Ol’ Deli, we're a small, passionate team serving specialty coffee, handcrafted sandwiches, fresh sourdough, and classic deli fare. We’re looking for a friendly, reliable person who can confidently switch between managing the team as well as front-of-house service, barista duties, and hands-on help in our kitchen and bakery.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of the delicatessen, including food preparation, production, and service
- Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations
- Manage inventory and ordering of supplies
- Administer staff rotas, payroll, health & safety procedures, and fire marshal duties
- Develop and implement strategies to improve deli performance and profitability
- Train and supervise staff members, providing guidance and support as needed
- Create and maintain a positive work environment for employees
- Handle customer complaints and resolve issues in a timely manner
- Stay updated on industry trends and make recommendations for menu changes or improvements
Skills & Requirements
- Strong culinary knowledge and experience in food preparation and production
- Willingness to learn sandwich and bread making
- Barista experience, with confidence in preparing artisan coffees
- Knowledge of food safety standards and best practices
- Familiarity with kitchen operations and equipment
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage a team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Understanding of financial management principles
- Experience in the restaurant or hospitality industry, preferably in a supervisory or managerial role

We’d Love to Hear From You If You:
- Have at least 1 year of supervisory experience (preferred)
- Bring 1 year of restaurant or hospitality management experience (preferred)
- Have 1 year of barista experience and feel confident preparing quality coffee (preferred)
- Possess 1 year of hospitality or customer service experience (preferred)
- Are a strong team player with excellent communication skills
- Can stay calm, organised, and focused under pressure
- Are happy to jump between FOH and BOH tasks depending on the day
- Are reliable, proactive, and willing to pitch in wherever needed
- Are available for early starts (7am) and weekend shifts
- Live locally — bonus points!
