Full job description

The post holder is based within the corporate division as part of the Nursing and Patient Experience department and will be working closely with the Lead TVN and Harm Free Care Matron and other specialists to deliver high quality patient care with a specific focus on tissue viability across the trust. To support strategically and to influence the development of the service in line with national and local targets.

To be a clinical specialist in wound care working with multidisciplinary team to provide effective patient care in respect of wound prevention and management, providing expert advice, education/training for staff caring for the patients and quality improvement in tissue viability team services.

To provide professional leadership and demonstration of competence in the assessment of pressure ulcer risk for patients and raise staff awareness on PU prevention.

To support on clinical audits, to monitor standards of care and contribute to audit reports in relation to wound care, contribute recommendation to improve outcome and promote quality improvement and to take an active role in clinical governance and quality assurance.

To support Lead TVN and Harm Free Care Matron to lead in collaboration on the delivery of the Trust Pressure Ulcer reduction strategy, monitoring progress through the Harm Free Care Committee.

  • To work as a clinical specialist practitioner, at advanced level, within the NMC Code of Conduct and Scope of Professional Practice
  • To provide expert clinical knowledge and competence to support staff in relation to tissue viability and wound management. To be responsible for the assessment, planning and delivery of specialised care to own caseload of patients who have complex needs relating to tissue viability.
  • To demonstrate credible clinical leadership in engaging staff, act as a positive role model and influence others through professional attitudes and behaviours in keeping with the Trust’s values.
